Just letting the folks in Europe know that the incomparable 10 piece country western swing honky tonk band The Cornell Hurd Band will be performing at the Country Rendez-Vous Festival in Craponne, France on July 31. They've been trying to bring us over there for years, but it's hard to get us out of South Austin.
Our steel man is Scott Walls, who is a masterful player and gets sounds out of his LDG that you wont believe. He also makes great faces when he plays. Scott and I played in Don Walser's Pure Texas Band together. We both joined Cornell's ensemble when Don retired. Cornell has many CDs out and his current line up is very impressive. Paul Skelton is a wild tele player and we have a 72-year old tenor sax player, Del Pushert, who knocks everyone's socks off. Great rhythm section too. And then of course, there's Blackie White and Danny Roy Young on rubboard. Don't miss it. Here's some links:

Hope to see you there.

CrowBear – Thanks man. I’ve heard nothing but good about this festival from the bands that have gone before. I think I may get to play it again next year with the Texas Swing Kings, another my outfits.
Gerald – Ah, memories.
I got your Ukulele Stomp CD today and I’m listening to it right now. Delightful! I’ll say something nice about it on your thread in No Peddlers. Excellent work my friend. See you soon.

Howard,
I was able to see you guys a couple of weeks ago at the Broken Spoke and by the way, what a great gig. Anyway, got out of my vehicle and heard Scott on steel and of course pulled up a chair and stayed there until we left. Scott is a genuine gentlemen.

Hi Howard,
I played the festival two years ago with Dallas Wayne and I have to say that it is one the best organised festivals I`ve played. You`ll enjoy it!

You better bring your shorts with you because it is pretty hot here in France. I have been here since Monday with Michael Ballew. We are in Pau, France today and Paris Friday, then Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Denmark and home. Hope you have fun.

Charley – I think I remember seeing you over there watching Scott’s feet. I saw your nice post about him. He’s a great player and a fun guy to hang with.
Olli – I just saw Dallas Wayne a few weeks ago. Man, he sings great.
Don – Wow, what a gas. Michael is a terrific singer and song writer. Tell him and Dodd hello from me. Have a great time over there. I’m sure they’ll dig your playing everywhere you go.

I'll be over there in France on August 13th at Equiblues Festival in Saint-Agrève.
I'll be playing guitar with the Patrick Glenn Band out of San Antonio.
I'm going to be there for five days, so what should I go see and do? |

Thanks CrowBear - We had a excellent time over there. The crowd really enjoyed our show and we got some superb food and saw some amazing architecture and countryside. I'm playing there again next year with the Texas Swing Kings and I'm really looking forward to it. |
