With all the good, smooth Hawaiian steel players around during the "territorial" era, how did this guy get recorded on so many albums with well respected personnel?
...all due respect to his composing and musicianship, he is the choppiest Hawaiian steel player I have heard on record. His phrasing makes my skin crawl.
I just got a Japanese re-release of "HULA" which is an instrumental album featuring greats like Pua Almeida on guitar. Danny plays steel for most of the tunes. The steeling is so hard to listen to I was gonna toss it in the dumpster but thought maybe somebody here might want it. [This message was edited by Jeff Au Hoy on 13 October 2005 at 03:22 PM.]
