We players, east of the Rockies, have a great steel playing singer that makes most of the steel shows that happen here in the east. This guy is the steel players singer, knows all of the great country standards and has saved my show several times just by being there. And is a truly great person.
I know he has many folks in the steel world that feel the way I do and appreciate him just as much.
The reason for this post is to let Rob know who is thankful he is there to be taken advantage of!
I'm thankful and I owe him many thanks for singing on my sets and I think several of us do. Let him know how you feel ,
Thank you Rob Parker,

Bobbe

Bobbe, you got that right! Rob is certainly one fine singer, smooth, as Tennesee butter!
He was a great addition to our June Jam here in Georgia.
And you, Bobbe, were great here, we just can't say enough about all the folks that made that week end so great. And we look forward to another soon.

Rob Parker......what more can anyone say? A super fine singer, and a super fine southern gentleman. I always enjoy talking to him and hearing him sing. And the man is a steel player too. What's next? Rob here's all the best to you from the red head who enjoys visiting with you at the steel shows and reminiscing about Renfro Valley.

Rob Parker, super nice fellow as well as singer. Met Rob in Magee, Ms. a few years ago at a steel show. Also hear he's a fine steel player as well. Matter of fact, I was just listening to his CD with the several different steel players on it on my way to my Saturday night gig earlier.

Bobbe... great post! Rob is for sure "the steel player's singer". I've had the pleasure of having him up on my sets quite a lot lately. He does the kind of music that steelers identify with and audiences love to hear. That comes from being a steel player himself and knowing what fits. The Georgia Steel Guitar Association has been blessed with Rob's talent at our Georgia Peach Jams, and he has a standing invitation to them all. We're looking forward to having him back for the next one on December 4th at the Hollonville Opry house ( www.hollonvilleopry.com ). What's on your schedule that day, Bobbe?

P.S. He swings a pretty good golf club, too!!!

Yes Rob is a great guy. He taught me one of lifes great secrets. You can drive from Paducah to Grand Rapids without ever touching your brakes, if you set the cruise control at 2 MPH below the speed limit. Thanks Rob for this.

I met Rob back in the 70's at the Peavey Jams during the DJ Convention before Gaylord ruined it. I'm proud to to call him my friend and always happy to see him at the steel shows. He knows more country songs than anyone I know.

Can't add much to what everyone else has said except, Rob is "Mr. Steel Guitar Show".
One of the most dedicated player/singers that I've ever met and a "Special" friend to everyone. Thanks Rob. your friend, Ray.

I agree with all the above, but this doesn't belong in E&A.

Since RP has done so much for Steel, I'll call him an "Honorary Steeler" and move this to "Steel Players"

I echo all of the above statements about Rob.

As well Rob has helped bail me out on some shows when I was stuck for material. Just call up old faithful Rob and your cooking again.

FYI - Joey and others,
Rob IS quite the steel player (plays pedals in his RED socks) and great 6 string guitar player (Travis Style) as well.
(also Joey is quite the guitar player ala: Roy Nichols & Don Rich)

Rob must be a great guy, 'cause my lovely bride Laura also thinks he's pretty cool too.

Thanks for your friendship Rob!
You pal,
Kurt (and Laura too)

The first time I ever went to a Steel Guitar Show, (Ronnie's show) I heard Rob sing. I thought then and I still think now, that he has one of the best voices I have ever heard. I know I would cause a big argument in the Steel Guitar world if I were to say what I'd like to say, Well..... If I'd say what I'd like to say, here it is. I think he's the best of all country singers. His range is exceptional, his phrasing is superb, and I don't remember ever hearing him stray from a note. He's always right on. I think he should teach a singing class wherever he goes. He's also a fine guest to have in your home! If you feed him he'll come back again and again and again. Ha ha!!
Love ya, Rob!

Is there a country song Rob doesn't know the words to? A first-class gentleman, for sure!
(By the way, Rob will be appearing with a lot of back-up steelers in Saluda, S.C., on Aug. 13th and 14th!!)

I cannot add any higher praise than has already been given to this wonderful man.

But, to make you all just a little bit jealous, Mr. Hanley and I will have the great honor of pickin with him in just a few days. Always a great honor for me, and just to show you what a great guy Rob is, he 'puts up' with me!
