I was driving home from a gig and tuned in to AM 650. Jean Sheppard sang "Together Again" and turned it over to Dave Robbins - for an entire verse!
Wonderful playing, Dave. Tasty, and tone to the bone, as they say. Wish I knew even half of those moves.
Jean introduced Dave and credited him nicely. Don't know the last time that I enjoyed an Opry segment so much.

In addition to those great breaks, Dave does outstanding backup behind Jean's vocals. I look forward to those West Coast songs she does to hear Dave do his part! |

DAve is one of the best players I have ever had the pleasure to know. I'm just sorry I can't get the Opry broadcasts.

Dave Robbins is indeed a very good player and nice guy to go along with it. He was assisted by Robert Crigger on Piano and Gregg Hutchins on Drums, who also play in Jean's Band. I do not know who was playing Bass Guitar. I have played Shows/Dances with Robert Crigger. Great guy and player too! |

Dave is a super guy and one of Nashville's best kept secrets. His playing knocks me out, and I'm proud to call him my friend.

Thanks guys very much. It's nice to know someone is listening!
Our current bass player is Rick Francis and has been with us for awhile now. Rick Langston, who played bass for many years, has moved on to persue his own carrer is the Branson area I beleive.
Jean is a great gal and loves steel guitar. I have enjoyed working for her for 12 years now, but the real fun is in the dressing room where, she will always reherse and you might be playing anything from Buck Owens to Bob Wills!
The Opry is not an easy place to play when you know the likes of Tommy White loom just to edge of the stage.
Thanks again!

Dave Robbins is a spectacular steel player! I haven't heard him for quite awhile but he always plays great and gets excellent tone. He also happens to be a great guy. I am glad to see him get some of the recognition he deserves. Dave, I would love to hear you put out an instrumental cd sometime, I am sure it would be well recieved. |

I agree, Dave Robbins is one of the best in the biz. I have his old '71 Emmons P/P in my collection. Nick

Bob Watson!
Long time ...no see!
The consideration of an album is something I have been "knocking" around for some time. Even have a producer...but...well...there's always one reason or another! I guess the biggest fear I have is using the money for food to make an album and then having to eat it when it doesn't sell! LOL!
Nick
That old guitar is a good one. Hope you enjoy it a long time.
Thanks again all.

Hi Dave, I played steel for a show Jean did up here in Ohio a few yaers ago & I still have the practice show tape Jean gave me with you on steel. My what a smooth player you are my friend Im still stealing your licks off the tape. Im not sure why you didnt make the show, cant remember, but I loved playing the show for Jean, & like you said, Mrs Sheppard loves the steel players |

Yes indeed, Dave Robbins has been a long time favorite of mine and I must say, always does a stellar performance on the opry.
And yes, an instrumental cd from Dave would be great!!!!!
