I have never had the pleasure of meeting the man in person, but from the correspondence I've had with Reece, I'm convinced he is one of the nicest people I've ever communicated with in the music business.
Jeff Newman was very cool too, but I met Jeff over 20 years ago. Like I said above, I've only connected over the Internet with Reece.
Anytime I've asked a question about an MSA guitar I get the most detailed and pleasant responses imaginable.
Who says "Nice guys finish last"? This guy is a winner and exceptional gentleman.

| As I have mentioned elsewhere, Reece is the major reason I bought both an MSA Pedal Steel and an MSA SuperSlide. My dealings with him have always been so helpful, pleasant and professional, that it made buying a pleasure. |

I have to totally agree! Reece, you're the best! David told me how wonderful you and Theresa were and after I met the both of you in Texas I knew he wasn't kidding around!  You are too cool!!!

All too true.
As a person and as a builder.
What surprises me is so many questions like "What year is my MSA?" and so few about his playing. ¿Have you seen his universal copedant? That´s cool...and a few questions could be asked about pedal 3 on his Bb6 Universal, or pedal 4 on his E9th Universal.

Jim, your assesment is right on the money!!! Make sure you one day get to meet and visit with him in person!! You'll be a better man for it!
As great of a player as he is...the best thing he does is serve as a great example of a true Christian & friend!!
Reece is someone I am honered to call a dear friend of mine, not because of his playing skills but because of "what" he is made of!! I feel fortunate to have got to know him personally before I found out just "who" he is!! |

| I look up to him (he is taller than me)but, kidding aside, he does take the time to help you. In the past, I asked Reece his opinion on some personal things and he was kind enough to take the time from his busy schedule to respond. I really appreciated that. |

I had a week~end conversation with Reece just a couple of weeks ago...he wrote me again this evening about the way he built Curly Chalker Steels, and why Curly played the way he did. As some of you might know..i am a #1 fan of Curly Chalker. However, you cannot find a nicer, more educated, brilliant steel tech, and builder, then Reece....his mold is broken....only one like him on the planet. As very busy as he is, he still remembers me, and takes the time like this evening to answer my questions..such a nice person..i am so proud to know him. I have met him in person, and he is the same in person, as he is online. I attended an MSA cocktail party, at the old chase convention. Met him, Chalker, all the MSA users at that time..that was the highlight of the convention for me..to this day, nothing has topped it. I could not even begin to tell you what year it was, the suite was so full, i had to sit on the floor!
I am going to be purchasing a new 12 string Superslide from Reece...A#1 in my book.

I first met Reece in 1968 at a show in Sonoma ,County California. I was very impressed by his fine Musicanship and by the fine person he is. Yes, he is cool and one of a kind.
I feel proud to call him my friend....al

At the Dallas show he played bass behind David Wright. Of course, he did a good job, but I was disapointed not to hear him play steel in person. His is one of the first names in the steel world that I heard, I was amazed at how good he played.I still want to hear him in person.

We new that !
MA is a great and kind man
willing to help all,
even if it is just a friendly conversation
with some one h who needs an ear....
and he works HARD to further the steel as best he can.
I for one am really looking forward to the realease on remastered CD

I have to say dittos to everything that has been said so far. I bought an MSA in 1968 and started corresponding with Reece. He made me feel special right from the start and I consider him a friend today. Exceptional picker and person.

Reece's friendship over the last three years
has enriched my life to no end. He is a man that cares, not only steel guitar, but to give one encouragement with the bumps of life. He also has a tremendous amount of knowledge, other than guitars. It is interesting and fun to converse with him on sports, cars, business and whatever.
Reece is in my Hall of Fame ! |

During the time I was working in my Firebird Suite CD, I was frequently discouraged, partly by the enormity of the task, and partly because I was afraid that the steel guitar community would rehect the album because it wasn't country, and the rest of the world would reject it because it was a steel guitar album.
During this time, Reece was there for me, encouraging me to continue, and assuring me that I was doing something worthwhile. Had it not been for several much needed shots in the arm that he gave me, I might well have given up.

I'm not sure that the man has a "mean bone in his body".
Like I say, I've never had the pleasure of making his acquaintance, but to communicate with the gentleman is a distinct pleasure.
We all wish we had his talent, and with God's blessings, maybe his humility, kindness and gentle spirit. |
