I realize this is a long shot but have seen it work here before... I am looking for a GOOD band to play steel with. I can handle lead guitar, vocals, high harmonies etc,but I vowed in my next band I would be the steel guitarist. I LOVED the band I was with for 12 years and recently left, we were among the very best bands in central NY,among the highest paid and most popular with a big following and a web site with over 26,000 hits.. Its just time to stop rockin' for 21 year old kids on my sixers and time to play my steel guitar..anyway, I know there are several NY/Penn steelers that watch this site, a few post, if you hear of a solid band that needs a steel/guitar/vocal guy.. I'm available... bob

Larry,, I've BEEN wound up!... I just need to be the steel guitarist again.. like I was for many years..
I LIKE being a lead guitarist in a rock band, but I want to play my steel more than my guitar these days... I'm gonna be 51 years old on 6/5,,,who wants to see an ugly old fart like me rockin' like an 18 year old,,, its a hideous and pitiful spectacle... Time to sit and watch my hands,,,bob

Bob, Hi friend, Man i can't figure out for the life of me, why you should have to post for a job? i have heard you pick, and seen a picture of you. You're not prince charming, but you're not embarrassing to have on a band stand either...but seriously, you play as good as any local player i have heard anywhere. You would do a good job for any band my friend. As you should know, good steel players are at a premium. You should at least let us know, how often you want to gig, stay local? how far are you willing to travel. But i would just put out the word, that you are available. Let the local music stores know you are looking to change..They will beat your door down, and ring your phone off the hook bud. Forget that age thing...hell i plan on playing my own funeral

George.. WHAT?? NO Prince Charming???. .. AM TOO!! . Actually, its almost impossible to find a decent gig around here on steel,no matter how good you are.

No country gigs at all that I know of. I get a session call on rare occassion, thats about it. I would say I'm a bit picky also. I want a bunch of guys of an ability level thats about the same as mine.

Also, don't want to play too "cheap",as I got used to making good money with my band[Silverado] I can travel 100 + miles in any direction, which would put me in proximity of some good size cities like Syracuse and Rochester as well as into central Pennsylvania,Scranton etc.

I posted this because I KNOW there are some steel players working in the general area, and I figured maybe I could get some of thier "leavings"..
Guys get offered positions they can't take, and maybe someone will remember this post. Its certainly worth a shot!!
You must have seen my photo in Sea Creatures Monthly.. correct? bob

I like being a steel guitarist in a rock band! Play the music you love most on the instrument you love most.
