I have uploaded some examples of my playing for those of you who are interested, and/or have the bandwidth.
Primarily pop tunes in solo pedal steel arrangements, and a live jazz tune, yours truly settin' in with a small combo...
Click here to get to a page listing what's available to hear
If you do take the opportunity to listen, please let me know what you think.
Other examples are in the MP3 section of the Last Train Home website, link in my signature

All three are great, and that's a pretty fat tone for a Vibro Champ on the 1st one! |

Thanks! and yeah it was surprisingly fat for a VC on the broadcast;low volume, close mic'd- I love that li'l amp (my wife found it at a yardsale for a mere pittance) it mic's as large as a Twin and is soooo much lighter

Great sound, Dave! That's the type of tone that so many players (Weldon, Hal, Buddy, and Ralph) had back in the '60s, and (sadly), the type of tone you just don't hear anymore on the radio. It helped make them famous! |

Hey Dave....very, very nice!!! Really cool playing on one of my all time favorite jazz ballads! Just for the record, "We'll Be Together Again" was co-written by Frankie Lane(of "Mule Train" & "Rawhide" fame), and his accompanyist/band leader, Carl(not Clare)Fischer.
It was so nice to get to hear your playing!

The middle tune with the pod sound for me the best.It sound so sweet and comes very close to a twin.Much lighter.
I have a V-amp and use the Twin setting for steel also at home.Sound rally close.
Love it.

Bumping this up to say I have added another tune to the list:
Click here then scroll down to
"You're Stronger Than Me"
-written by Hank Cochran/Jimmy Key, originally recorded by Patsy Cline,- a LIVE recording of me at the '99 PSGA Show, playing to a MIDI track of my own creation. It's audio from a videotape, a little tinny and the mix is odd, but I wanted to share it anyway...
Dedicated to Jimmy Day who had passed away earlier that year...

Bumping this up to say I have added yet another tune to the list:
Click here then scroll down to
"If I Only Had A Brain". Yup-Harold Arlen's tune from "The Wizard of Oz". This is from trumpeter Kevin Cordt's new CD "Kevin Cordt Quartet Live at Iota Club and Cafe" just released this month
it's a larger file than some others (7+ MB) but if you have the time or the bandwidth you may enjoy it.
Thanks for listening, and "If You Like It, Tell Us About It , Won't You?"[This message was edited by Dave Van Allen on 09 June 2004 at 10:52 AM.] |
