I guess my first choice would be "Swingin' From The '40s To The '80s" 'cause it's got the requisite country & western-swing songs like Panhandle Rag, and Bubbles In My Beer.

Second choice would be "It's All In The Swing". This one doesn't feature country & western swing, but the more standard big-band type of swing numbers like Deep Purple, Satin Doll, and Out Of Nowhere.

Oh, I'd pick "Buddy Emmons Sings Bob Wills". It's the most fun one!

I agree with Jim...The Bob Wills disc is a lot O' fun. But if had to pick just one I'd have to go with Swinging From The 40's Through The 80's. I think that's the title.

Good advice here on each post... but this is the same question as "which Tom Morrell and The Timewarp Tophands CD should I get?". All of em. The "40's through 80's" set is great, but the truth is, you're missing some amazing playing if you skip any of them! (Even if "Buddy Sings Bob" is the most fun!)

I have to agree with Mark - after you get the second one . . . well it's like trying to eat just one peanut.

Buddy Emmons is Featured on a Swing CD Called Air Mail Special, featuring the hot fiddle playing of Buddy Spicher And Calvin Vollrath.
Calvin got a copy to me two weeks ago and it's mind blowing. Ask Red Volkaert about Calvin. There is an upright bass player and drummer on brushes that really tear it up. There is a walking bass shuffle of "Mona Lisa" that is the best shuffle I've heard in a long time. You can find out more by e-mailing
calvinvollrath.com or buddyspicher.com
