Announcing the new Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association Website!

We are rolling out our newly redesigned website just in time for this year’s HSGA Joliet Illinois Convention (October 13-15, 2005).

Talented web designer/graphic artist Amy Pace did the redesign and we are very pleased with her work. She created a website that is aesthetically pleasing with an easy to use intuitive interface.

Please stop by for a visit and look around. You will find many of your old favorite pages like the HSGA member’s audio page, the photo galleries of conventions and the “Who’s Playing Where?” listings all redesigned with new graphics and easy to use navigation.

New pages include photo galleries from the 2003 and 2005 HSGA Honolulu conventions, a history of the Hawaiian Steel Guitar, a page with pictures of notable Hawaiian steelers of the past, a learning section with archived articles, a page of tunings, suggested string gauges and more!

Also new are two pages with an easy to use on-line form that seamlessly routes your message to the HSGA main office, the board of directors and officers, the quarterly newsletter editor, the webmaster and an additional form to submit news items.

We are also rolling out our new email address: hsga@hsga.org

Go take a look (click here). Let us know what you think.

Shiney dude! Looks great.

I think we all need to take some 'heads up' pictures this year , Bruce is the only one looking at the camera. That's the curse of the steel player, you always are lookning down and miss out...

Great web site.

Thanks Chris,

What the hell is going on here?

You are right about the steelers looking down.

While designing the site I mentioned to our website designer Amy that all the steelers were looking down in their pictures.

She said "makes sense, guys are always looking down there".

Lovely website....about those last minute reminders though....

Breakfast is no longer included with the room

Boy, when they first said that there wouldn't be as many choices on the breakfast menu, they weren't kidding......mainly breakfast!

Instead we will jam in the Heritage Room, which is off of the corridor that leads to the outdoor pool area.

Uh oh......hey Rick, do them Dustpans float?

Can visitors bring their smallest family members into the performance area? Case in point == 10 lbs........ In Hawaaian 'Chee Hua Hua' dog. We do have a shoulder carrying
basket or whatever you call it? She's had her shots, rabis, etc., and is very good natured, loves people.

Could this be because most steel players are shy and don't like special attention?

However, people in the know are only trying to follow the “The 12 Rules..” by Wynton Marsalis

Rule 4. Concentrate. Develop the ability to FOCUS.

Editorial comment: remember even superior people can focus only on one thing at a time. Better the instrument rather than the camera.

Rule 9. Don't Show Off.

Editorial comment: Just think of how humble steel guitar players are by nature, by looking down to communicate their honest modesty.

Just my humble thoughts.

Aloha no,
Don
