I love the dobro fills in this video airing on GAC.
Anyone know what type of dobro and any details?

Probably Jerry Douglas. He da man when it comes to all around dobro playing. Probably playing his Sheerhorn. He seems to get the sweetest recording sound from that. |

Hi David,
I worked on a few tracks for Shania last year. I played Dobro on 'Don't' and Pedal Steel on 'I Ain't No Quitter' and 'Party for Two'. The Dobro I use was customized by father back in the 1960's. You can see a picture of it on my website at www.bjcole.co.uk..

BJ....I just recently got to be the "hand model"/"finger syncer" on Shania's video for "I ain't no quitter".
I was wondering who did that wild steel part. Trying to lock in visually with that solo (with a huge film crew and dancers watching) was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Good work man! And yes..."Don't" has some very nice reso work!
Rick
p.s. BTW..."I ain't no quitter" is actually a 4 beat shuffle, which should endear Shania to some of us here on the steel forum. It'll probably get it's debut after "Don't" has had a proper run. |

BJ, the link you gave doesn't work because of the two '.'s at the end. Here is the correct link:

link to BJ's dobro:

She's a genuine beauty! Fine guitar for a fine player! [This message was edited by Chris Lasher on 09 April 2005 at 11:31 AM.] |

B.J., thanks for the comeback.
I'll probably pick up a copy of the album so I can hear more of your work.
That dobro spoke to me like nothing has in a while.
Nice work on the guitar by your Dad, too. Talent doesn't run in the family, it gallops. |
