The 3-way switch on my '60 Stringmaster D8 has finally bit the dust. I opened it up, and the little round doughnut shaped thing that holds it all together has crumbled into crumbs! Here's a pic from the Stew-Mac site.

The part I'm referring to in this pic is black, but it's a waxy beige color on my switch.

In any case, tht part isn't salvagable, as it's in about 100 crumbs now. Will this Stew-Mac switch work? Or, do I need to somehow find one from the same era? I will keep this old, useless switch for when I sell the steel (if I ever do), so that the person buying it can feel good about knowing he has all the original parts, including the useless switch, but I personally don't care about collectability, but functionality.

Anyone else ever have to deal with this, and did a stock replacement switch work?

Thanks.

I used a standard Tele guitar switch. You can get this at any music shop. It even comes with a tele tophat which matches the Fender original.

Yes Ron is correct. Fender of course used the same three-way Tele switch; that you can find at any Music store.
