Does Buzz Evans ever post here? and is he a forum member?
I was introduced to his amazing playing by Tommy Cass when I went to pick up my steels in MA.
Tommy had a couple of CD`s that would blow your socks off!!
But never see him mentioned on here,ie. who he works with, are we ever going to see him in the UK.and finaly could he spare about five years to give me some lessons??????

No, unfortunately Buzz is not a forumite. Yes, he's a phenominal player, but if you want to see him you'll probably have to go to Vegas-that's where he lives-he hasn't even made it to Dallas or St Louis or a couple of years.

Thanks for the reply JB ,Vegas is a bit far for me but I almost think it may be worth it!!
Its a shame that much talent does`ent get more "world wide" exposure, I don`t think many UK steelers have heard of him and I used to listen to steel radio and don`t recall ever hearing Buzz?
My topic did not generate much in the way of replies so I am assuming that he is not that well known in the States either?
But by the number of personel emails I received he is sure big in Vegas.
Could someone post a list of his recordings and tell us all where we can buy them??
Thanks for the info.JD. |

John, do a search on Buzz Evans in the Steel Players section and you'll find plenty of mention of him, along with misc. other stuff... Buzz doesn't do computers but his daughter has a website up for him here: http://www.geocities.com/buzzevans/
Buzz is a good friend of mine and yes he's a great musician. |

I met Buzz when I lived in Vegas in 81. He's a monster picker and fun to be around. His band worked the 'Silver Dollar' when our band went on the strip. A well respected musician by all. |

Buzz,
Is a great friend and a monster player on Guitar or Steel Guitar. He plays every song like it is going to be his last chance to play, and I truly do respect him for that.
If you get a chance to hear him, do so, you will not regret it,

I get to hear him play every once in a while in the Laughlin Nevada area. He was last seen by me at the AVI casino playing with the John Encino band. He is a "CAT" and is a blast to visit with, more energy than a 30 megaton bomb, I first heard him in Reno when Scottie did a steel convention there back in the 70's I think with Big E ,Sneaky Pete, Bobby Black and I can't remember who all, maybe Larry Behm can chime in as to who else played and the year it happened, anyway Buzz played Steel, sang and played the guitar and played a wonderful set. Scottie made a video of the event, although I never heard anything about it. Take care all.
