I did it 5 years ago. Never looked back. Started my own company.

Not for everyone though. You have to love insomnia.

Ferris, I for one, enjoy a humorous distraction from the technical stuff in my daily life.
I think a humorous post DOES have a place with musicians, AND in catagories other than "humor".
I play my best when my mind is clear and my heart is happy. I have been involved with musicians for 50 years and I can't talk to a musician without a joke surfacing within 5 minutes. We do this because we know it is preventive medicine in our profession.
It is my hope that the moderators will take this into consideration and not be so quick to "snap the lock". As always, this is my opinion only.
DOES ANYONE ELSE SHARE THIS OPINION?

Not sure if I could play at all under those conditions.

But isn't there usually a sheep in the joke?

Hey Farris go borrow enough money from your brother-inlaw to order you a brand new steelguitar of your choice fully loaded --maybe Bobbe Seymore or Herb Wallce would help you get over your blues so sad you seem to be------ by the way how is the possom going down God bless BJ

Hey Farris!....can't tell how many times I've set out to memorize each note at each fret, not to mention scales. I became so obsessed with my steel that I neglected my family. I missed so many "young years" with my two boys as they grew-up. By 1966, I'd had enough of those "smoked filled honky tonks" (east Tx. termonoligy) that I walked out and never looked back. Fact is, my wife fasted and prayed me out of those "hell holes".
I found great release in taking my steel to Church, setting up near the piano player. I stopped trying to play like Weldon and Hal and found the sound that was me. I owe it all to the Lord. "Possess your soul with your patience"!...I'm 60 yrs of age now and I've never stopped trying.
It just won't let go of me. I don't go out much anymore as I keep my Super-Pro set up in my large closet. I still love listening to Masters such as Weldon Myrick, Jay Dee Manus and Hal Rugg, their playing ability has been a strong influence on my life. I think I can say my longivity is a result of "being myself". I admire talent. I love to see these "youngins" showcasing their talents. "Tommy White" is a prime example. That yougin is so "gifted" and is the most advanced with the instrument today. Age has its advantage, we can get away with more today than yesterday. The wife does'nt nagg me anymore, she's proud that I have something to keep me busy. When my fingers get to itching I just enter into my "player closet" and get after it. The steel guitar is a wonderful instrument and after forty something years, "I steel love fooling with it"!!!!!...."don't give up"!..seek...and you shall find!

Delbert, man after my own heart!!same here.the 60s I was gonna be a star, then kids excepted the LORD,and i couldn't stand to play those places no more!!I played in churchs, with a gospel group, prisons, nursing homes, ect.and still ran a machine shop.the blessing God gives us,is much more that the world can offer.now i can't leave the house anymore with sick wife ect.but still blessed to be able to sit here and play!!

Jennings i don't know about those mule nails!!haha,i was thinking, these days, all the body piercing ect.mabe man put holes thru fingers.fasten them on,i am a half way black smith,i could heat those nails, and hammer them on ya,and they probaly stay!

I ordered the cobalt picks yesterday, they were under steel guitars here on the forum, and thought i'd try them.

let you know how they work in a few days.
