Brad, he played with the Chore Boys at the old Chicago WLS Barn Dance in the mid 50's. Found this site for you:

One thing for sure....whoever this guy was and whenever he was playing, no one called his instrument a "slide guitar"!

In the picture that has the accordion player Augie Kline--that is the fellow that played on Chet Atkins VERY early recordings done in Chicago.

Johnny Frigo last I heard was still a fine jazz fiddler Really fine. Jimmy Gross was a good steel player. Augie Klein and his brother Ray Klein were top accordion players. When Rex Allen went from WLS radio to Hollywood in 1949 he took Wade Ray and one of the Klein brothers with him-they were in some of his movies. Used to listen to all of the above during that time on WLS.
