I`ve never played on any #1 hits.for that matter, I have never even played on anything that I tought was super-great or something.Every time I got in studio and get excited about the work I did second later I hear another recording someone else did that sounded great to me.And 10 times better than what I just did. That`s why I drive a truck.

Same here. I am not worth 15 cents in a studio, not that I am worth that anywhere else. I just play much better to the public. I admire those than can play in the studio and do a good job. |

Dont like studio work...like the fun of playing on stage....but I must admit I played on one that sold 500 copies in the first hour....if anyone wants to buy one I have 499 left in the back of my car !!! |

Hey now here's a list I can get on!! I don't think there's any danger of a #1 coming out of my fingertips anytime soon!!
One good thing about recording into the computer is, your just a click away from getting rid of the evidence!! |

Finally a list I can get on and not get dirty and smell bad. Played every tonk and skull orchard in the state though behind some cats that "thought they were gonna' be number one". They're on this list too, just ahead of me.

You can add me to that list. I haven't recorded much although I really like studio work. I'm just not real good at it. I play much better live and relaxed. I guess the closest I've come was 12 or 15 years ago on the Stoney Edwards album "Just for old times Sake" I played on three songs including the title song. They say it did pretty well across the pond. |

hey Fred, how many times did you hear:
"I just got signed and you just work and play steel for me and when I hit big I`ll pay you good"
I heard that so many times down on Broadway it ain`t even funny anymore.I tell them:
"I just signed a recording deal with Columbia myself, for 20 bucks a month I get 3 free CD`s every months"

I have never played on ANY "hit" but have played on an album that got national release and a for a major label[Chryslyis]at a "big time" studio[Bearsville.. Woodstock NY]..I even heard my playing on the radio a few times while working at my day job... MANY "went nowhere" sessions usually @ $100 a session.. big deal... I'm still a hacker...
Some of those cuts I recorded I am very proud of.. others are Abyssmal!!! and I cringe, shaking my head, whenever I hear them. Most of the records I have done, the producers, engineers, and Artists have NEVER had a steel on thier recordings before and hacked my playing to pieces, ruined my sound,or BURIED my part,as to make the cut sound "less country".. feh... I only do it for the bread!!!.SOME attitude no??!! bob |

well, my band just signed a very lucrative deal with columbia records....
that's right, we get 12 cd's of our choice for only $.01, and then we only have to buy 12 more in the next 2 years.....
