I spent Christmas morning listening to the Grace family and friends have a fine old time.
I see a few comments about playing with other steelers in the band, or having other steelers come to your gigs, and you gettin nervous...
Fa Git aboud it This bands got 3 steelers!
New forumite Del Ray Grace Sr., Eric Russell and Yolando Ramsey.
These guys play some wondeful warm lines each with a different tone and style. and very tasteful accompanyment for the singers.
Not your typical Christmas morning music,
but just fine for me today.[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 26 December 2004 at 02:38 AM.] |

Thank you David for being so open minded and kind enough to check out our music.I realize that our Sacred Steel style of music is in many ways different from the country style of many peddle & non peddle steelers on this forum. My goal was to merely attempt to preserve some of the praise music played in our church organization (Jewell Dominion) for over sixty years by many great steel players (who were more gifted than myself)by putting some of the music on CD.No one from the church has ever attempted to record this music until now and I was very concerned that the great legacy and contribution of the steel guitar would eventually be forgotten or even possibly die out. The power and influence of the steel guitar has crossed many cultural boundaries and seems to be more far reaching than most people imagined. To my surprise we are being approached by many people locally and otherwise expressing interest in booking us to play our music on different venues.2005 is begining to look very promising for the Praise Band. Thanks again for giving us a listen. To God be the Glory and Long live the Steel Guitar!!!

Del Ray,
I started playing steel because of the stuff I heard from the Campbell Brothers and the "Sacred Steel" Cd I have. Actually,I have heard your cd as well. I may play the hillbilly style, but I have a blues/rock bone about a mile long. In my previous musical life I played for a blues based rock band. I love Sacred Steel and I am looking forward to seeing the Praise Band Jan 14 in Columbus.

Thanks Dustin,We are looking forward to a Grand Time at the Steel Guitar Jubilee. I can't wait to meet some real peddle and non peddle steel players that weekend. Not sure if the complete Praise Band will make it down for Friday because of our work schedules but Saturday is a go.I am just honored to be invited to such an event.Grace & Peace to you and your family as we march into a new year behind the musical sounds of the steel guitar.See you in two weeks, and keep on steelin' my friend. God Bless!

Happy new year Del Ray.
Thank you for the open minded comment, when it comes to music, I am about as open mionded as anyone you will ever meet.
I do play E9 country, but only by way of bluegrass 1st, and blues and jazz of several styles before that.
I got a C6 PSG,which happened to have an E9 neck... so I started playing that too.
I listened to your CD some more and it is quite pleasing. Y'all must have some great Sunday Services.
I always like thos revival meeting bands with that pumping B3 and a groovin drummer, and that chorus singing up above it all.
This is from that same school, but some fine steeling replacing the Hammond.
Works for me! |

Hello Larry Cole,Yes Gary P. did pass that information on to me. I am humbled by the invitation but we must get back because most of the band members are musicians at their home churches. If you can work us in at another time in the near future we will gladly come back to Columbus and share our complete music ministry with your congregation.(We have praise dancers also)It would be a blessing to us.I am always thankful when the Lord gives us opportunities such as this to share the message of Jesus Christ. Please e-mail me so we can talk furture.www.sacredstrings@yahoo.com
Grace & Peace
