Topic: Dirty Dancing!! Somewhat shocked! |

| I am just curious if any of you guys have this style of dancing going on in the clubs where you play. I swear there was a guy getting more action on the dance floor the other night than I have gotten at home in two years. Having daughters, I had to give a lecture to them about the proper way for young girls to act in public. Can't believe where it has gone since I was in my 20's which was a long time ago. Guess I'm becoming a old fuddy-de-duddy. Ouch. |

Don't get me wrong Michael, I wasn't born yesterday but there were hands going places that had me blushing. There seems to be a lot more exhibitionists on the floor than there used to be. They are dancing for shock value, not dancing. Don't misunderstand, it wasn't everyone, just a few that were really drunk. I was just wondering if you all see it there also.
Some people my age came to see us and left earlier than they planned because of some of the actions of the younger kids. |

Most of the classic country gigs I play are for an older crowd so they're pretty straight. About 3 weeks ago I did a steel gig with a rock band which did the Dan Fogleberg, Eagles, type stuff at a club in Virginia Beach. Man what a good time! We didn't even start until 10:00 PM on Saturday night and the place was jumping. Young drunk ladies who thought nothing of jumping on the table and flashing their breasts! My old heart couldn't hardly stand it but I thought to myself. If I wasn't here, some poor other steel player would have to go through this horrible experience. I couldn't even look at my guitar much as needed to pay attention to the crowd so I didn't miss anything. It's a shame what a musician has to put up with but someone's got to do it. I hope I get called for that gig the next time.....JH

A few weeks ago I subbed with a band that was playing in one of the "new country" clubs here in So Cal where they allow 18 year old "young adults" to hang out with the over 21 crowd. I'm up there playing steel on some tune I've never heard that the band leader called by the name of "She F**kin' Hates Me". The huge dance floor packs with young Britney Spears look-alikes...all singing along with the un-censored lyrics and dancing like strippers. So I look over and see this geeky young guy, probably right out of boot camp, who finally get's the nerve to go up and ask this young "hottie" (with all the mandatory piercings, tattoos, and sexy low slung hip hugger jeans) to dance. She accepts this offer from this young nerdy stranger, and as soon they hit the floor she starts wildly doing something like a right-out-of-Howard Stern "pole" dance, using this young G.I. Joe as the "pole". As if this was totally par for the course! After their "dance", he thanks her and they both retreat to their seperate sides of the room and he goes back to being a geek.
I thought I had seen it all.
I'm so glad Carl isn't here for this.

In the 70's we had streaking
In the 50's- early 60's rock music dancing made are our parents go apoplectic in horror
In the late 70's early 80's cocaine soaked sots did amazing things on dance floors in front of jaded crowds.
in the 20's the Charleston was scandalous
In the late 30-s 40's jiterbugging in zootsuits
gave are great, grandparents... or parents... angina.
So what else is new!!! |

We do a number called our "Sex Song". You probably know it as "Mustang Sally". Never fails to get things moving backward-forward, up-down, and even in the last set sideways-sideways.

Funny thing about the band I was with, Southern Spirit...we were doing all this AC/DC & Metallica, but the lead sing Joe Eiffort can sing "I never go around mirrors" and raise the hair on your arms! |

Generally at my gigs, stuff like that doesn't happen. My audiences are so old, there's a diaper changing station in the Men's Room!

But we had this chick dirty dancing the other night, and her outfit... let's just say the largest piece of fabric was the Laundry Instructions tab! Her brassiere was basically a Union Label with a strap!

She didn't look bad for a 71 year old woman, I must admit!

| i went to a new years party last year,had a DJ playing stuff,he kept playing a song a lots Just a stroking,or mabe Stroke it,any way,i was sipping draft beer,and some guy came by with a bottle of crown royal,i said filler up!he looked at me kindda funny and did fill er up.well as the night went on,those pretty cowgirls,i kept sipping,and later on someone had to drive me home,i got in the house,fell over the recliner someone put in the way,grabbed a towel on the way down,and thats where i spent the night.world just kept spinning.Don't think i'm invited back this yr.and wouldn't go if i was!!! My grandson and I were at the mall shopping when this 20ish girl walked by going the opposite way. Needless to say she had all the attributes of some of the afore mentioned hotties and the wherewithall to demonstrate them most effectively.
While I was trying to turn my head back from the reverse 180 degree position to looking straight again my grandson said, "Grandpa. You're 62 years old. You shouldn't be looking at young girls that way."
I said, "Son, I may be 62, but it's still me in here." |

Glad the lingerie was union made Herb!
I don't think the dancing going on today could be much racier than some of what they were doing at places I used to play in the early 80's. (Not unless some new body parts have been invented since then!).
I don't know if it's true that there is nothing new under the Sun, but certainly a lot less than we sometimes like to think. |

Years ago, we used to play one of the hipster bars in Hollywood that had a couch in front of the bandstand. There were a number of cute young women who would play, "let's flash the old guys in the band", ....wonderful gig. |

I know they are nice to look at, but I dunno,I just think a young woman should behave in a more ladylike manner than showing her boobs,fondling herself and whichever "lucky" man/boy in close proximity... I can tell stories about things I've seen.. LOTS of them and many pretty recent,, but this is a FAMILY forum ... bob |
