Topic: Buddy Cage gets daily show on Sirius Radio |

Ok, it's not as big a deal as Stern, but Buddy Cage will be taking over the 6AM-12 noon slot(Eastern) on Folktown 38 on Sirius satellite radio beginning Monday. He's taking over for Meg Griffin, who just had too much on her plate there to do the shift anymore. The fill ins he'd been doing were basically auditions, and he passed. The contract was finalized last week. Should be great, Buddy possesses a huge wealth of first hand experience with the music scene, and I'll bet it's a great listen.

JB that's good to hear. I'm sure Buddy will do a great job. I guess if I want to hear him I'll have to get up at 3:00 A.M. since I'm on the west coast. Next time you talk to Buddy say hello for me I'm sure he'll know who your talking about.

Hey Bob-JB Arnold tipped me to look up that thread about my dj gig on your forum. Thanks man for the mention-it's fun right now but I'm still limited on what I can playlist. Won't be able to stretch outside a Folktown format at this point but we'll see what's up ahead.
There was a Steven Van Zant channel called Outlaw Country, Meg asked me to audition for and when I saw the disappointing format, I threw in "Hey Steven, this is a great opportunity, don't screw it up with half-wit commercial garbage!" I didn't get the gig.
I couldn't stand the junk he had someone programming, and adding to that he picked a boozy, Brooklyn hairdresser who was aping a southern-yokel drawl! Dis-gust-ing. Now, I hear Little Steven's pretty hip to an outlaw approach but it wasn't evidenced on that log.
The idea was one I pretty much wrote the book on since I was 15 - staying outside conventional concepts of country music (and all forms), bringing in Dylan, the Beatles & Stones into my bag of tricks. Guys like Lefty, Waylon, Cash, Wynn intrigued me along with Ravi Shankar, Led Zeppelin and Tuvan Throat Singing with a dash of Dharmic Ram Dass! I still manage to stay outside the lines and could have done a spectacular job with Outlaw but alas...I will stay on it, ya never know know what's around the corner in broadcasting, not to mention the Sirius satellite thing.
Thanks again guys - I'll work on this folk thing for a while cause I work for the best dj in New York, Meg Griffin - and after all, it's a National Platform.

I get Sirius on satalite TV. 'Have to listen to Buddy's radio show.
