I have been listening to the song "Four Wheel Drive". Did Buddy Emmons write the song and if so what year, and what year did he record it? Herby Wallace does a terriffic job on the song as well. |

Buddy wrote the song. I believe it was recorded in about 1957.

And to add insult to injury, guess who was the bass player on Buddy's original recording of it. |

Buddy come up with "Four Wheel Drive" long before the car dealers did. I suggest he get royalties. It is amazing that he comes up with a song title that years later would turn out to be a huge features on vehicles. At any rate his playing was top notch even back in those days. |

Au contraire, Paul.
The first 4 Wheel Drive vehicle was invented in the very early part of the 20th century, and Mercedes was one of the first manufacturers of this type of vehicle.
Check out this website for the whole story. Cool website.
Buddy was the first to use the phrase in the title of a song, I'm sure.

Thanks Herb for setting the record straight. I am not quiet old enough to know anything about those days so I stand corrected. Just let me hear Buddy play, regardless of the song title. |
