You ever find an old record and wonder whatever became of the person who made it? I came into a stack of records recently. One was recorded years ago by a then 17 year old girl named Delores Hancock from the North Carolina area. Anyone know her or what has become of her steel guitar playing. She plays very nicely on this LP. It was a custom project recorded at the old Mark V studios. LOT'S of gospel and country things done there in the past.
Anyway, if anyone knows Delores tell her I have a PERFECT copy of her record if she wants/needs it, I will send it to her. |

My guess is Herb Steiner might know what Delores is doing these days. She was playing with Tommy Hancock and the Supernatural Family Band up into the '80s and with the Texana Dames more recently.
Keep on pickin'!

I met her at the Dallas show last year (or the year before?), so I know she's around. |

That's CONNIE Hancock that plays with the Texana Dames. Different lady.
Dolores is still around, I met her the same time Jimbeaux did. She's now a middle aged lady and still plays. She had a pink formica Emmons that Carco Clave' owns or used to own. I played it a Tootsie's one night and it was a good sounding horn. Weird color, though; felt like I was sitting at a chrome dinette set from 1961.

OOOPS! Look's like I got my "Hancocks" mixed-up. But I figured Herb would know something. Thanks, Herb!
Keep on pickin'!

Delores is still in the Burlington NC area where she is from. She still plays great. She and her family had a gospel group for several years. She now does a lot of musical productions at a dinner theater in Greensboro. She plays a Emmons LeGrande III single neck that I built for her several years ago. She also still has an Emmons Original D10 white teakwood that her father bought for her. |

I cannot be sure but I think I met her at a Mall opening when I was in the Raleigh, NC area. The conversation got around to music and I mentioned I was "trying to work up an arrangement of What's New"; an old pop standard. She went back to her steel and played it !! She couldn't have been out of her teens then and I do recall thinking that here was a Master in the making. It is nice to know I was right about something...
