Last night on my drive home I was listening to the Opry, when I heard one of the finest solos I've heard in a long while. The Whites did "Keep on the Sunny Side". A fairly uptempo groove when Tommy played a most beautiful E9th chord solo sticking to the strict melody. I was expecting to hear him cut loose with some technical prowess, so when he caught me by surprise displaying his heart with a ballad type solo, I nearly drove off the road. I love it when that happens!

Yep! same exact thing,we were on our way home from a show I was playing on when pow! Tommy's playing on both needles and pins and keep on the sunny side about made me loose it. Hey Paul were your ears burning last night?? We played two shows with Mel Tillis and Tim Sergent was playing with Mel, Tim is a great guy and great player, anyway before the shows we had a chance to trade licks and go-over our favorit PF licks and the tapes we had both wore out along with Tommy's and your video.Thats when the job is the most fun, getting the time to hang out with other players.....thanks to Tommy and You for all the great playing..Billy

Same here. We were on our way home from playing and heard the Whites. That was some of the best picking I have heard in a while. Tommy did great. Heard some other picking that was good too. Jerry |

Paul...you exhibit the fact that you are a class act in this post!... Where else would a world class talent pay homage to another world class talent in such a sincere manner?? I only wish politicians would show this kind of respect for one another.. the world would be a much better place! bob |

I was glad to see that the “Opry Live” last night was actually ‘Live’ on TV, for a change! And I enjoyed seeing Lloyd Green with Steve Warner! I wish the Opry was live more often. I like to listen to the Opry, but; I can't listen to the radio and watch an old ‘re-run’ at the same time!

Paul Franklin,
What a compliment. I will affirm once again,
you are purely, world class gentleman, musician and heroe. Thank you so very much!
Billy, Jerry Lee, Bob, David and Mike,
Thank you.
Mark van Allen,
I agree, count my vote.
Janice,
Joni Harms did a wonderful job and chose some western swing songs to let the Opry band have some fun with!
Thanks again and my best,

Paul. My sentiments exactly about Tommy! I truly enjoy everything I hear from both of you guys. Two very great friends, and two first-class musicians I am very found and proud of. |

But how do you get to the Grand Ole Opry Archive to listen after they post it. Is it only for the folks that pay the $65 fee?

Thought I'd use this thread to calm down a little more after hearing the Mavericks with Tommy sitting in (Opry live 10/2). Good ride, Tommy! Man, if there ever was a toe tapper... |
