Have any Steel Guitarists ever been inducted into the County Music Hall of Fame?
Surely there are plenty deserving. There must be tons of hits that were made hits becuase of certain licks played on the steel guitar.

I don't think the Country Music Hall Of Fame cares one iota about steel guitar or steel guitarists. A while back, when they were remodeling the building, they advertised for any memorabilia associated with their inductees, and they gave the name, address and email address of the individual to be contacted. I sent them a snail mail AND an email telling them that I still had the bar and picks I used in the original recording of Pee Wee King's "Tennessee Waltz" and would be happy to have them mounted in a small display dome that could be placed in a corner of the display that has Pee Wee's accordian in it. I never heard back from them -- not even a rejection note.

Last year there was a catagorie for instramentalists which is how Floyd Cramer got in. You have Merle Travis and Chet Atkins but these guys had talents beyond their instrament.

An old issue of "Steel Guitarist"magazine discussed this...I think it was a column by Mr.Bradshaw.At that time('79 or'80?)no steel player had been inducted...still none,as far as I know...what a shame...to me the steel guitar IS country music! There are several great steel players who should be in there...along with Grady Martin...

I should have mentioned Chet did play steel. What I meant was that Chet was also a producer and Merle had hit records where as Cramer's skill was mainly his instrament.
