Greetings all,
I am a member of newly minted fashion, although prior to that I was a (seemingly) interminable lurker.
The titular gentleman of this post is not personally known to myself, but I have known great delectation from his edifying and unordinary posts on this forum.
In the past few months, he appears to have gone missing and I feel this forum misses his presence most exceptionally.
Not to seem too disquisitive, but I would like to inquire as to whether anyone has seen or heard from him as of late. I pray he is well. Please send him my regards.
My warmest thanks,
Bud |

Good question, good impersonation, too.
The last I heard from Bill, he had to cancel the annual "Mass Bash" that he ran for years due to health problems.
I too hope all's well.

Me too, Joey. Bill could do things to the English language that Norm Crosby hasn't thought up yet, but his intent is always to better the steel guitar world.
HEY BILL, WHERE Y'AT????? |

I talked to Bill yesterday on the phone and we had a nice talk. He has some health problems and is working through them as we speak. He was wondering if any of the forumites were inquireing about him and he would probabely be pleased to hear from some of you. Maybe you could cheer him up. Greetings!
I miss all of those wonderful past
exchanges on matters pertaining to the steel guitar. Thanks to all for the enjoyment that it brought into my life. I couldn't begin to express my great admiration for my fellow steel guitarists. It would take forever. I have been brought down by the ravages of "depression"!! Nothing is more devastating to the body and soul. It's hard to share this reality with so many who have made inquiries. I'm glad to know that I've been remembered.

Bill.
I've SINCERELY missed your posts, your oblique wordsmithing, and your many uses of the gerund.
Don't just "Duck Out" without asking us.
Your Theories deeply challenged us all to think a little larger, and define our own thoughts. Not enough people do that IMHO.
This place doesn't have enough extravagant titularity without you.
Your Friend.

Bill I understand, I have lived with a person with cyclical severe depression for several years.
Medicine is still trying to understand it, and society is still trying with limited success to understand it's repercussions.
One thing I can observe is that staying active and using your brain in ANY way is the best route to keeping it at bay more often.
Of course that is what it makes the most difficult,
Catch 22.
So maybe a few more o rounds of your erudite screeds,
might not be a bad thing for you.
Best of luck.

Bill,
Best wishes for your recovery from this illness. You have a lot of fans on the Forum and especially here in New England.
I will never forget the wonderful write-up you did on me 15 years ago in the Country Gazette. I may not have ever "made the big time," but you helped me feel that my peers respected my musical efforts. And this came at a time in my life when *I* was going through a period of self-doubt, frustration, and regret over things lost.
Thanks for that.
Chris

..hey, Bill...I too hope you are hanging in, and under a doctor's care...
...the true test of your posts is, with limited time, do I skim past them or click on them....and invariably I click on them...
...follow the doctor's orders and prescribed medications so you can hold another Bash next year...I need an excuse to drive up to the Berkshires.. |

Mr. Bill Hankey,
I'm delighted to hear from you, as are all of your comarades-in-steel, though I am saddened to hear of your struggles. But I know from personal experience that if you do whatever it takes to make it through - you CAN come out better on the other side.
If I may be so bold as to speak for others, we all eagerly await your full time return to our midst. Until then, 'hang in there!' You have many fans on the forum and I am one of the biggest!
Regards,
Bud |
