That is great Dan!. I am glad you are making some waves out here in Seattle. Its a tough job but somebody has to. Seriously, thanks a lot for some really good steel playing. BTW, say hello to Orville for me. I played at a lot of bluegrass gigs a long time ago with or around Orville.

Congratulations to both of you
i thoroughly enjoyed Robert's interview
excerpt:
Quote:
RR: Well, I grew up in a church. And my parents, early on when I was a kid, always taught me how to understand who God is and what he does for everyone, and how he keeps us all in line, and he is the ultimate being, he's the one that we only have to answer to. And it's kind of how I live my life. He's ultimate, he is to be thanked for everything that happens with us, because at any point in time, he's the one who could take it away.

A couple of dates for steel in Seattle:

Tomorrow (Monday the 23rd) I will be on KUOW radio talking about the steel guitar (and doing some playing). This will be from 2-2:30 at http://kuow.org/ .

Plus, I will be playing the Tractor Tavern in Seattle with most of the folks on my new album. Come on by!!

Come on down to the Tractor, Wayne! I need to talk to you about a pickup, anyway...

Anybody who wants to listen to the show can do so at this page http://kuow.org/defaultProgram.asp?ID=7657

The evil Real player is required.

I am sorry I won't be able to make it to the Tractor Tav. Sounds like a blast and the ONLY reason I won't be there is I am going to StLouis Aug 31 and won't be back until Sept. 4th. I'm sure I will be able to get to your next gig though. Let me know when that is and I'll be there.

- This is not Steinar posting, but his (ex) wife -

Last night Steinar took a boat and started to row, in the tradition of fellow Norsemen like Leiv Erikson and Terje Vigen, while singing "I want a piece of that sanctified gospel too, yes I doooo, hoo hoo".
If any of you should bump into him (197cm, 110kgs, looong hair and stupid Hawaiian shirts), please remind him that he has an appointment with his dentist on Wednesday, Sept. 8th.
Thank you.

Thanks to everybody who came out! I actually was able to pay myself.....

It was an amazing, uplifting evening. Proof positive that there is hope left for bands lead by over 40 steel players....

I appologize to the person who left after the 3rd song, who seemed to think we were presenting a political messagem (which was not our intent). Something tells me this guy might possibly have been a forum member. I guess it's just kind of hard to be a Republican in Ballard.

Dan and orville, You guys rule. I really enjoyed the concert. My wife and I had to get up early so we left at the break but we REALLY ENJOYED the music. I also got Dan's new CD as well as the Sacred Steel convention album with Dan playing "Amazing Grace". I am sorry someone left because of political feelings but the music was anything but political. As a side note, I really enjoyed the "No Smoking" policy for the show.

Dan,

Congrats! I believe we have a mutual friend in Randy Handley. I worked with Randy several years ago with slide guitarist Lee Roy Parnell. Randy gave me a copy of your "Blackened Toast" CD back then and I have been a fan of yours ever since.

Aargggghhhh!

How could I have missed this thread? My usual M.O. is to be out of town when you guys are playing ... this time I was not only in Seattle, but I was casting about for something to do on Thursday night. Maybe next time?

I'm still enjoying the "rough mix" CD you gave me, Dan. But I do intend to buy a copy of the finished product.
