I hope Bobby Caldwell has some idea of what we think of him. He truly is the glue that makes all of the music work. I look forward to his break in each song.

,,,,,,,,,YES !
We have overhere in the north of the Netherlands a couple of "STEELFRIENDS" and often we play(ed) some old tapes from the convention (since 1977 till now internetSTEELRADIO)
We all were so moved and blown away by his playing that HE was "THE HIGH-LIGHT" of every CONVENTION second to BUDDY EMMONS,,

TOO MUTCH STEEL is (that )POSSIBLE ?!
for me YES when you have Bobby Caldwell on stage and you don't use this GIANT,,,(except when he needs a P-pause,,HA)

Bobby we love your (first) LP,,,what about a NEW CD,,,

It's not JUST his stellar playing.. it's the way he conducts the band; notice how after each player's last song he leads the band through a reprise of the last tune? That's just one of many great examples of how he fine-tunes the band to each performer.

The stage band, as great as it is, is always better when he's conducting.

Bobby never upstages the steel player either, this is a mark of a true musician. If you didn't catch the Herbie Wallace and Doug Jernigan sets at the end of the convention you really missed a treat. I guess because it was near the end of the convention, Bobby decided to really stretch out. I knew he was good, but I have never heard him play this good before. He played some stuff that made my jaw drop, and you could tell he was having a great time.

Bobby Caldwell!!!...What can you say...I don't know of a guitar player ANYWHERE who would fit better with the staff band...He plays everything and plays to the level of who is on stage...Classiest musician I have ever seen...The show would not be as great if Bobby were not on the stage...Every player is great and Bobby gets the best out of each of them...Bobby Caldwell is GREAT!!!Thanks BOBBY!...

I fully agree!

His stellar playing and musicianship and his stage personality make him one of the greatest guitar players I've ever seen. It's not only what he plays, it's also the way he delivers it. I noticed in Buddy Charleton's set the pure fun they had exchanging those licks on C-Jam Blues, right next he adds a few little notes to a ballad that will blow your mind...Outstanding!

Kind Regards, Walter

I guess you guys have totally summed it up....WOW.... What a "monster" player and what a previlege it is to work along side him on stage. More important Bobby and his lovely wife, Linda, are wonderful people whom Barbara and I are proud to call our friends.

Ditto Darvin's remarks and the staff band members were terrific as usual. Bobby stated that his services as band leader were not necessary with this group. He said you just tell them what time to show up.
On Herby's last set, the band was smokin!
They were all grinnin' and looking at each other with obvious pleasure. I thought Ben Brogdon was gonna bust a gut on Window and All of Me. He was having a time.
I think we need to say Thank You to the Staff band...If they didn't do what THEY do, our heroes couldn't do what they do.
Bobby Caldwell, Ben Brogdon, Rick Boyer, Jimmy Queen, Bobby Regot, David Russell, LT Zinn, Roy Rosetta and anyone I made have left out, you guys are awesome! Also, vocalists Rob Parker, Laney Hicks, Justin Trevino, Jake Hooker and others were in great form and in much demand.

Jerry Overstreet....I'm not sure if any of the other members of the staff band are members of this forum, but I'll surely pass these comments on to each of them.
I think I can speak for all of us in the band when I say "thank you" for your very gracious and humbling compliment, that makes it all worth while.
Best wishes....Roy

Incredible musician....I had the good fortune of hearing some recordings he's done with various steelers over the past several years.....some 'private stock', some to be made available soon...something for all of us to look forward to...yet with all that capability at his fingertips you'll never hear him overshadow a steeler, only compliment him....we love you, Bobby.
