" When I die " let me go to Texas " Tanya
Tucker - The Reso work on this song always
grabs me - Was this done with a reso or is it done
on a pedal - with effects - something about it
makes me think it could not be done note for note
on a 6 string .
Anyone know who did this recording ? and How
?

Thanks
BH

I had heard that it was my dearly departed old friend, the late Jerry Swallow (Tanya's band leader and monster lead guitarist at that time). I have an idea that Jerry might've taken the lyrics to that song to heart and might very well be somewhere in Texas right now.

God bless ya'll Jerry!

Maybe there's different versions.
In the one I have she says,"Aw, come in Weldon.."at the start of the solo.

I just posted my E9 transcription of it over in the TAB section.

Your welcome Bob.

Since there were no responses to my tab post, I wondered if anyone even noticed it.

It took a few hours to transcribe.
Playing it is easier than tabbing it.

Joey

Great work with the transcription there, Joey!

Regarding the solo, it sounds to me that there are two different guitars involved: first two bars of dobro, then two bars of lap or pedal steel, and then two more alternating rounds again. At least that's what I hear based on the timbre of the instruments. If it's a studio recording, I guess they could have done it that way.
