| Where can I find a listing of the recording steels and amps and effects Lloyd is now using? I see on the video "An Evening of E9th" with Tommy White, he's not playing a Sho-Bud. What was his rig for "Remember When?" [This message was edited by Jerry Clardy on 18 August 2004 at 04:49 AM.] |

Jerry; this just in from Lloyd to answer your question.

By the way; those are custom cabinets built by Rick Johnson and they are Green with Gold Grill cloth..yeee haaa.
As you can see; the blackface Fender Twin Head is in one cab. and the D-130 is in the other.

It is absolutely great to see that Lloyd is back in the studio and involved in a lot of interesting projects - the Paycheck-Tribute is just one, I know there is more to come!

Oh and since I am such a HUGE Lloyd Green fan; I guess it's ok for me to brag on him with another little bit of recent trivia.
As Lloyd came out of retirement more than a year ago; Alan Jackson wanted him to record on "Remember When", and we all know what happened with that song>#1.
Well in the same session; Alan said: "hey Lloyd there's one more song I want you to record and it's real Country and will probably never see the Air"....of course Lloyd said yeah....and guess what song it was?? Yep; Alan's recent Release>"Too much of a Good Thing" and it's charted big time and probably has gone #1(I don't keep up with the charts particularly)....
So there ya have it....If Lloyd Cuts on it; it will Go Number 1; well at least in my book it will.
Go get'um Lloyd; we are all extremly proud of you.

Lloyd is a super great guy, I really
enjoyed building his cabs. He has inspired
me become a better player too.

Rick Johnson builds some great cabnets. He built me a single 1-15 cabinet,and my 1967 Fender Showman Reverb head looks GOOD settin' on top of it.  It sounds SWEET!!! |

All I can say is KUDOS to Lloyd. He certainly can get the most from a straightforward rig.
Thanks for the rundown on his equipment. (Does he use any particular delays or echos or compression?)
Also, the picture below is on Tommy White's website for the video "Lloyd Green & Tommy White an Evening of E9th." I'm pretty sure this isn't a Sho-Bud. Any info on this session?

I'd be glad to build something for
you, if I'm not mistaken Lloyds
speaker cab was about 21x21X10
with a 1" taper on the sides, I make
them out of fingerjointed pine and
the speaker baffle "floats" like the
old Fenders did. I don't want to get
into a debate of pine vs. plywood
and before anyone raises the question
"yes" b0b will get his donation to
the Forum.

Yes ,Lloyd is using the 710 in his old Bud. We tried the XLR 16, but, it was just to shrill and I immediately reinstalled the 710. Later Lloyd experimented with a few more pickups and always came back to the 710, because of how quiet it is in the studio.
As far as his speaker cabinets are concerned. The Alan Jackson Christmas album he used Duane's "Marrs" cabinet and the "Remember When" session he used the open-back "Marrs" cabinet I built for him. Both loaded with JBL D-130's. Lloyd has always been open about trying new things, however, seems to stay with what works well for him.
Also, we would like to thank Lloyd for always taking time to sign lots of guitars for the guys that have requested it. Don't see him near as much since his session schedule has gone so nuts. Thanks for asking. Jeff Surratt |

Lloyd is not playing a J.C.H. anymore. As a matter of fact Jimmy Crawford recently sold Lloyd's J.C.H. Lloyd is using his 1973 L.D.G. Sho~Bud all the time now.

Hey Cool Rick; and there's no debate to me about "Pine" that's what all my speaker cabs. I've made/have/had, are out of..ah..ha..
I'm headin' out of town for sessions and I will yell at ya when I'm back.

I just watched the " To Much Of A Good Thing" video. Great traditional country song!
as is most of Allan's songs. who is the steeler in the video? it's not Loyd for sure.
