After having witnessed Tom Brumley´s performances during the 2004 Norwegian Steel Convention, I can only state categorically that the Gentleman from Missouri is alive, well, and absolutely kicking, thank you very much!
Even at the tender age of 68, even with chronic back problems, even jet lagged, he still put in stellar performances . Old hits like "the Steel
Guitar Polka" and "Tom cattin`" were played with all of the legendary twang and bite intact, and newer songs like "Nicole" and "Forever loving you" were given a touch and a tone worthy of Tom´s old idol Jerry Byrd.
It´s no wonder that the topic Tom Brumley generates dozens of replies every time on the Steel Forum.
The man delivers the goods in fine form, and he and his lovely wife Rolene embody the epitomy of your dream guests.
Cheerful, unfailingly polite, and with time and kind words for everybody, they are wonderful ambassadors for the American steel community abroad.
Scotty(DeWitt Scott) helped us make contact with Tom back in 1997, and we´re forever grateful to you, Scotty, for that.

Hello
I can underline every word Steinar says.I had them to my house the day after they arrived to Norway for some nice talking and playing, and some barbeque in the garden, and again after the steel meeting they stayed for the last night before I took them to the airport. They are the sweetest people to be around. It is so interesting to hear Tom tell about his days with Buck and Rick Nelson-the time just fly!
I hope they had a nice visit-we loved their visit, and I hope they will repeat it.
And of course-Tom`s playing and sound is among the best there is,go listen to him in St.Louis!
Best from Egil. |
