I listen to steelradio.com a lot and there is one song that stops me in my tracks every time. I don't care what I'm doing, whenever I hear Bobbe Seymour come on with his version of "Sweet Dreams", it just mesmerizes me ! I don't think I've heard a more soulful version in my life. It seems like he puts his very self in that song. They could put that song in a rotation every hour and I don't think I would ever tire of hearing it. Touch and tone ? It's all over it ! Anyone else have any thoughts on this one ?

I have said many times that Bobbe does'nt get the acclaim he is due for his E9 playing. He plays with great taste and feeling-one of the best.

Yeah right,,,you said to me one time that the "Priceless CD" was kinda boring,,can't believe anything you say Bobbe.
He does playing "To Die for" and not a bad ole phart,,,,,,,,,'The best friend a steel guitar ever had".
Wouldn't it be great to be capable of loving the steel as much as Bobbe does ?

Wayne: I love it as much as Bobbe does ! I just wish I could play it like he does !!
BTW; Bobbe: Frank has been doing some recording lately and I wanted you to know he sounds very good. I was listening to my car unit and thought I was on the radio band...I couldn't figure out who the steel player was. Then I realized I had punched up the CD player and an album he had just given me was what was playing !! Darn nice touch and really good tone. He said he'll bring some of them up for you to listen to the next time he gets lost up your way.....

I LOVE all the Seymour CDs I've gotten. I'd like to get the latest JCD CD, but for now am happy to keep taping my old cassettes together.
I have a great cut of "I Let My Mind Wander" that I swear is JCD.
Nobody misuses the Mixolydian Mode with quite as much class as Bobbe Seymour.
Mr S: I'm looking forward to Sue Parkerhouse's yearly visit on her way to Mecca this year, and hope you get to see her at the ISGA. I will make sure she gets out of here in the same condition she arrived in.

Eric, you are still the funniest guy around, (along with Pat Burns). I do greatly appreciate the nice compliments though. I have always agreed with your taste in steel players, from Don West, Buddy Charlton, Jimmy Day and Rudy Gabeletto (that's when I woke up) on--------->

P.S., "I Let My Mind Wander" was Jimmy Day inspired, but I was the "executioner".(Ha!)
Again, it is my favorite on that album, and as I said, your taste in steel guitar is impeccable!

| HI Bobbe, You just mentioned Rudy Gageletto, a great musician. I first saw Rudy at the NCO club at Andrews AFB, years ago and later at the "Village Barn" and I had the pleasure of meeting his dear wife who I heard has passed on. I hope to see Rudy again; I hope he is still playing in our area. If he is I hope someone will let me know. Incidentally Bobbe, you know how I like cut #18 on the "Soulful Steel" CD; in fact I like all the CDs I have of yours and the video tapes. Right now I'm still playing #18 over and over but I can't find it the way you recorded it. I can knock out a version on the E-9 neck, but it "ain't" the same. |

When I listen to Soulful Steel I keep hitting the start button because I love the intro so much. I like those old style tunes. The whole CD demonstrates his complex but a bit undisciplined style. Very subtle manipulation of the notes.

Bobbe. I do listen to the JCD version of I let My Mind Wander, on an old
WN greatest hits tape. (I'd bet money there are a couple BC backed cuts on it too.)
You do it justice at the very least, and then some.
My favorite part of your playing is your use of tube amp overdrive, and your chord motion.
I'm sure hoping to get there before my Marrs gets done next spring, when I'll be there for sure, but we'll see.
Got every weekend in sight booked atleast once, and fifty plus hour weeks. Time is just a blur anymore..
