Buddy, do you have any plans to make an Instrumental CD of Gospel Favorites? I think it would be great if you would. I have many of your Albums and CD's and would love to have your Rendering of Gospel Instrumentals played on your new JCH. I'll bet a lot of other players would too.

Roger, I have a cassette tape of Buddy Emmons called "Buddy Emmons On Tour". On the tape he plays a gospel song "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" on the C6th tuning. The playing is unbelieveable. I too would love to have a gospel project by Emmons but I wonder if it would sell as well since it would not be country music. I wish I had the money to finance such a project for him but I will settle for anything he puts out. He has always been and will continue to be my personal favorite among steel players.

"Just A Closer Walk With Thee" was mistakenly put on that tape by Tom Bradshaw. It's actually Herby Wallace playing that tune.

I believe that there are a "LOT" of psg players out there that like gosple music; across the spectrum. If Buddy does this I know that I'll want it.

And while we're on the subject of that tape, there's another song that Herby actually played, not Buddy: "Rollin' in My Sweet Baby's Arms". How Bradshaw ever ended up doing that is a mystery to me.

Well, I couldn't resist adding some comments about this topic. First, Buddy Emmons is my favorite player of all time, and I will buy any and every album he ever releases regardless of the type of music. It would be nice for him to do a Gospel album since to my knowledge he hasn't done one yet, but as I said anything he records is ok with me. I heard Buddy play in Dallas in March and in Chattanooga in May and he still is the master when it comes to tone, touch, taste, soul and more.

Now to the other part of this topic. Since someone mentioned "Just A Closer Walk With Thee", that is me playing it on the cassette along with "Rollin' In My Sweet Baby's Arms", and I am also playing "Farewell Party" on the same album. This is a funny situation that has really never been resolved. Tom Bradshaw did a project back in the early 80s, which was a cassette club where you subscribed to it and received a cassette, I think, every 3 or 4 months. The material on the cassette was to be live concerts that had never been released. We did a concert in Atlanta, GA and the entire concert was recorded. There were only four steel players playing on the concert, Buddy Emmons, Tommy Dodd, Scotty and myself. Anyhow, when Tom Bradshaw released the album 3 of the 12 songs was me instead of Buddy and to this day I really don't know what happened. I am not really upset about it but it is funny and strange the way it happened. As far as I am concerned, it is a compliment for me to be mistaken for Buddy Emmons.

Herby, I have the Cassette and the Newsletter No.2 that Tom Bradshaw sent out telling about the mixup. It seems that you and Buddy played a good one on Tom at his Concert in Concord that year.
