If you get the chance, be sure & see Lyle Lovett when he comes near you. Buck Reid is touring with him on steel & he was fantastic last night. He was playing a D-10 JCH, 8 x 6(maybe?? it was hard to tell from my lawn seats.) It looked & sounded like he spent most of the night on the C6 neck, but also played some great E9 stuff, too.

Oh, and the other 8 guys playing with Lyle were all great, too! This is a musician's band, as Lyle lets everybody take several solos & he's really good about repeatedly introducing everyone in the band. It reminded me of the old Troubadour live recordings because the musicians were able to "play" throughout most of the show. I'll bet that's a fun gig.

I think that Buck is a fantastic musician; we were inside, but were to the left of the stage so one musician was blocking our view of Buck. I had a great view of Buck's right shoulder though. When he cuts loose it's just great (and a nice guy).

Saw him a few years ago in St. Louis when Jimmy Crawford and Russ Hicks had him sit in on their set. His rendition of "Alabama Jubilee" will always stick in my mind!

Kind Regards, Walter
