I've never read much about his pedal steels, but I did see a reference to a '68 Emmons D10 and a Sierra U12.
I understand he has a big collection of guitars, including Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacher, National and Asher lap steels, and acoustic Weissenborns, Sheerhorns and Dobros. |

Although he plays the guitars mentioned, he has been looking for a new axe for months. He's tested a few but has yet to find his next one. |

I saw Greg on TV a few years ago playing a Sho-Bud. The show was "West 57th" (at least, I think that was the name...). Anyway, it was a Gram Parsons Tribute concert with Ryan Adams, Emmy Lou, Wilco and some of the other folks who were on the tribute CD.
As always, Greg played with great style and tone. I noticed that he picks the strings really hard.

Hey Tucker--you beat me to it. Yeah. Sessions at W54th St I believe the PBS series was called. Best TV music series in years. Shame it's gone.
I've seen reruns of that one many times. Yes he does play a Sho-Bud--Pro II I think but I don't know 'Buds. Didn't notice the picking thing but I'll watch for it next time. Man, I admire Greg. |

I don't think it's Greg L. on the Whiskeytown records. Sounds completely different to me in terms of tone. The only listing I can find is for a late Whiskeytown record, where it's Mike Daly credited for Lap/pedal steel, guitars backing vocals and dulcimer and some other stuff. |

Mike Daly has played with Whiskeytown for many years. Not sure if he's on their new stuff, but he's a great multi-instrumentalist.
