What is a good online site to order Buck Owens CD's? I can't believe that all the popular music outlets in malls & high profile stores only have "new country" artists. Bummer......

If you're just starting your collection, might I recommend the "Instrumental Hits" as to be one you might wanna purchase early. TB does a lotta great work on that disk. I've had the LP since, like, 1967... [This message was edited by Ray Minich on 26 May 2004 at 08:24 PM.] |

Just another post to say while you are thinking CD's, don't overlook these amazing VIDEOS:
http://buckowens.com/ranchshow.html
Each tape has three complete shows. The first shows on each tape are from what I think of as the 'classic' period (Buck, Don Rich, Tom Brumley, Doyle Holly, Willie Cantu) ... Tape One Show One was taped March 15, 1966, about a week before the legendary Carnegie Hall Concert. ( It also has Tom B featured playing Tom Cattin'!! )Tape Two Show One was recorded the same day as was Tape Three Show One. This is as close as most of us will ever get to seeing that concert, as they perform many of the same tunes with the same arrangements. Tight as a new pair of patent leather boots And the suits are to die for...
The second shows on each tape are from '67 with Jerry Wiggins on Drums...all LIVE in the studio in real time
the third show on each tape dates from the '70's lipsynched steel-less era of the buckaroos, Pre- Jerry Brightman. Edited, not in real time performances. Don is still cool to watch though.[This message was edited by Dave Van Allen on 27 May 2004 at 11:22 AM.] [This message was edited by Dave Van Allen on 27 May 2004 at 11:24 AM.] |

These tapes are the quintessential "Bakersfield" sound! Absolutely great!
Have you ever watched Don's guitar chord? He almost unplugs it from the amp whenever he steps up to the mike because it is really short!
Those were the days, no ear monitors, no wireless stages etc.!
Kind Regards, Walter
