We are looking at going to Branson, Missouri this summer to see some of the shows. What shows do you guys recommend to see that will have some good steelers? I have seen the Baldknobbers and they use Roger Blevins and I know Tom Brumley has played there in the past. I just would like some info on the shows you would recommend. I also saw a show called Frederick, who was a piano player that played 2 pianos at one time. He was a fantastic player but it was only a piano and no live band. Any advice would be appreciated. |

See the Mickey Gilley Show. The steel player is great, and quite a comedian. Best comedy show I've seen there. The Steel Player and Mickey banter back and forth and it is 3/4 of the show. Don't miss it. |

Paul,
Go see Russ Wever play the matinee show with 'Hank and My Honky-Tonk Heroes" at the Moe Bandy Theatre (the Majestic). I don't think you will be disappointed.
Russ told me some of the other shows with steel are The Baldknobbers with Roger Blevins, Paul Harris Show with Terry Bethel, Roy Clark with Bobby Hempker (when they're in town) Moe Bandy Show with Dean Holman.
Have fun visiting the "Show Me" State.

The Paul Harris show is a must see. It is more reminiscent of the way the shows started out in Branson. Great comedy and music, no glitz. The best show I have seen in a long time.

Paul, besides the fine shows in Branson I would like to invite you to stop by West Fork, Ar 8 miles South of Fayetteville, Ar on I540 for the Little O' Opry which happens every Saturday night. We have a very good "unrehearsed" Opry show 7:00 PM til about 11:00 PM. There is a very good chance that we will have twin steels May 29th when I will be joined on stage by one of the absolute great steel players in the country so there will be a lot of steel that night. I don't have a firm enough commitment to post his name yet. Do the initials RB do anything for you? He is coming if not that date in the near future. We never know who might drop in on us and our show is flexible enough to make room for them. Jenee Keener grew up from 6 years old until a couple years ago on the "Little O' Opry. (I discovered her for the rest of the steel players). Joe Nichols, used to perform on our stage and we like to think he got his start there before moving to Nashville. Joe surprised us with a visit around last Christmas. It's also past due for Larry King to drop by. Oh, the hottest act on the steel guitar show scene, Austin Stewart got his start sitting in on my guitar at the Little O' Opry from about age 7, now he is a whole 9 years old and tearing it up at every steel show he plays. Am I proud? Yep! Next, I would strongly recommend you stop in on the "Ozark Mountain Hoedown" featuring Eddie Snow on steel guitar. It is a great show and Eddie is a great player as well as a great guy. That is one of my favorite shows in the Ozarks. Ah, then on to Branson for a whole bunch of fine players already mentioned in this thread. I honestly feel that our show would not disappoint you if you stop in and the same for the "Ozark Mountain Hoedown" Our show is a little over an hour from Branson and Eddie's "Hoedown" show is about 45 minutes from Branson and both are right on your way from Texas. There is definitely a lot of steelin' going on in the Ozarks.
