I quote fron an article in the June 2004 issue of American History magazine. Alvin 'Creepy'Karpis (Public enemy number one) was taken to Alcatraz to serve a life sentence. In 1962 Alcatraz was closed and he was transferred to a penitentiary in Washington State. "There he met Charles Manson, whom he taught to play the steel guitar during Manson's first stint in prison."
Does anyone know if this is fact? |

You know, I'm getting a little off subject here, but since Charles Manson is supposed to be getting out of prison soon, don't you think he would make a great contestant on Survivor? |

Uh...Manson getting out of prison?? Didn't he get a death sentence, later commuted to life? He hasn't been paroled yet, don't imagine he will, but maybe I've missed some big news. They're not planning to let him out, are they?
We wouldn't want that, even if he DOES play steel guitar. Maybe ESPECIALLy if he plays steel guitar. |

The rumor tht Carpis taught Manson steel guitar was started by radio commentator Paul Harvey.
During the years Tom Bradshaw worked as a prison guard, Manson was one of his charges. He can tell you much more about all of this. According to Tom there is no truth whatsoever to the rumor. |
