I picked up this CD at the Dallas show and it really blows me away!! I've never been one to listen to Jazz much but the musicianship on this CD is top notch all the way!!
I know this is not a new CD by any means and I've waited way too long to buy it, but if you don't already have this one and want to hear some of the best Steel playing ever recorded, I would strongly suggest getting it, you won't be sorry!!
I feel anything I say about Reece's playing on this CD would be slighting him so just get it and listen for yourself.

Your right Sidney! All of Reece's recordings blow me away. Not only great steel playing, but it is not the run of the mill steel playing, very refreshing! |

It's in my play list as well. It is one of the best CDs I own. I really love the horns with the steel. Reece, how about more of the same. |

I got it on cassette a few weeks ago and have givin it several listens.
Very nice Reece!
It does give me a very good sense of what is possible with the Universal.
It's time he did a new recording on a new MSA! |

I first met Reece and heard him play in 1968. He has been my favorite since then.
As Richard Gonzales says,"very refreshing".........al

Steel and Brass is one of my favorites by one of my favorite steel players.
I listen to that recording often.
I hear a great brass section and a great steel player, but behind that steel guitar is a great steel player with hands of Gold and a personality to match. The title should have been Steel and Brass and GOLD.
Bravo Mr. Anderson..you are one of a kind of talent and human being. |

I'm in agreement 100% with the rest of you all! Reece has been one of my favorites for years and there ain't a nicer guy!
The man can pick with the best of them! Simply put, I think he's one of the best steel players ever.
This has came up a lot on here but I'll say it again, Maurice "Reece" Anderson and Julian Tharpe both belong in The Steel Guitar Hall of Fame.
Also check his "The Universal Diretion" CD out too. It is one of my all-time favorites. This Contemporary Gospel selection was way ahead of it's time. Cut in 1979 sounds like it was recorded last week.
GOD bless you all!

Oh yeah, I also want to give a cudo for the horn arranger on Steel with Brass,
Very hip, modern and also tradtional at the same time. A difficult juggle and he did it very well. |
