With the knowledge and backround that Jody Carver has with regard to Fender History etc.
I wonder if those at Fender are aware of Jodys knowledge etc. I have often asked Jody questions regarding Fender etc,he most always
has an answer. And if not right then,he finds the answer in his files and backround but most from his years at Fender. Who better than Jody can act as spokesman for the Steel Guitar Forum?
Those of you who feel that it would be an advantage for the members of the SGF to have Jody as our spokesman and maybe then Fender of the present should appoint Jody as the "Prince" Of Fender Tweed so that he can send all of our questions right back to the people at Fender and perhaps that would be nice.Fender needs a Good Will Liason Man.
I nominate Jody for the "Prince" Of Fender Tweed. Anyone agree or otherwise please post your opinion.

I have known jody carver for years. Being new to the Forum I have read his past posts that are archived. My opinion is that knowing
jody,he would rather remain the Knight. He would be protected by the shield he would wear.
He is a a fighter and I cant see him in a British Attire. Leave him as he is to all of those who know jody carver as the "Knight Of Fender Tweed".

I still think he should be awarded a PHD. In an old post of mine (it took me forever to find it), Jody said:
"If it were not for Jerry Byrd,I would have
gone to medical school and become a doctor."
Here was my reply:
As we all know, a doctorate is awarded to those who have demonstrated a level of unparalled expertise in a particular field. It can only be earned after years of obtaining extensive knowlege and experience.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Steel Guitar Forum, with the power vested in me by President Rienleib of the Hot Pants of America Association, I present to you, Doctor of the Steel Guitar....Jody Carver!
Not only does he have the musical talent and playing ability needed for such an estute position, his bed-side manner is equally as impressive -- a warm, friendly, genuine desire to help novices like myself, by prescribing the appropriate advice and anecdotes to fit our needs. He's also found the secret to life, which he graciously and unselfishly shares with those around him...it's known as 'the best' medicine...the only known cure for disease that could ail any soul...and that, is laughter.
Although knowledgeable in all facets of steel guitar, his area of speciality is Fenderology, probably the most fascinating field of study.
Jody, I'm sure you would have made a fine MD., but frankly, I'm glad you didn't go to medical school. Your talents were needed in music!
As Brother Oz would say, "That's the truth if I ever told it" --

A PHd for Jody Carver...why not? In the bluegrass world where I live, Ralph Stanley has had an honorary doctorate for years, and Earl Scruggs just was awarded his!
I'm new to lap steel, but Mr. Carver has my vote...Fender is a serious subject. |

Hmmm... you can get diplomas from 'Pedal Steel University' (eBay); maybe they have an honorary doctorate?
On the other hand, Jody might think it's a Pile Hip Deep.
At any rate, The Knight already is kind of a liason emeritus between the Forum and Fender.
Maybe a Knight is better than a Prince.... |

jody is not selfish,he does more for people
than anyone I ever knew. A class guy you could not find anywhere. Fender should be proud to call him one of their own. He deserves the best because he is the best.
I vote for the Knight, his act's of bravery shielding those in harms way have proven him over the years. jody where are you? Lets wait to see what jody prefers.
Im myself would call jody a prince of a man and a Knight of knowledge and being unselfish and giving those credit and never ever putting himself in the limelight. Majority rules keep you're comments coming.

Suffice it enough for me just to have known Jody even if only on this SGF. What a pleasure and honor. An icon has nothing compelling to live up to; All has already been lived up to. Knight? Prince? Robin Hood? Jester? I have greatly enjoyed whatever hat Jody wears, ...and God knows that, with Howard around, Jody won't run short of hats!
Aloha,
DT~

I say Jody should remain a Knight. All you have to do to be a Prince is be born into the right family. A Knight has to earn his position through courage and honor. [This message was edited by Jim Phelps on 06 August 2005 at 12:16 PM.] |
