I am not sure if this cd has been mentioned before - I am probably the last person to hear of it. Gospel cd of Gene Watson produced by Ray Pennington. Found it in a local religious book store. I bought it on a lark. I didn't have any idea who was playing steel. Anyway, it features Buddy Emmons playing like Buddy does. So good. Although all the musicians on the cd are excellent my favorites are Buddy on the steel and Kelly Back on guitar. I don't have many recordings which feature Buddy so prominently. I really enjoy Gene's singing and Buddy, well, when he plays the fill or the turnaround, I mentally think, "That is how that is supposed to sound." Everything he plays is just so 'right'. So tasteful. What can I say, that is why he is Buddy Emmons....

I love to hear Buddy play.

I agree, it's a great CD with my two favorites, Mr. Emmons and Mr. Watson (my former boss.) Gene's sisters are singing harmony with him on this CD and that makes it special too. They're quite the musical family, the Watsons. And Buddy's playing is wonderful as one might expect.

You can purchase this CD at one of Gene Watson's live shows (and he will sign it for you), or I betcha the E.T. Record Shop could round up a copy. BTW many or maybe all of the recordings Gene did on Step One have Buddy on them and it's fine, fine playing, finer than frog hair! Nobody backs a singer better than Buddy Emmons IMHO.

Randy I agree with your statement that Buddy always seems to play exactly what was supposed to be played. I have felt that way for years. Glad to see others are listening too.
