Maybe I'm just not in the mood to figure this one out (usually I am pretty good at this stuff) or maybe when I slow it down the seperation just isn't there......but in any case - does anyone know what that slightly dissonant little passing lick is on the steel solo? This is the Johnny Paycheck version with Lloyd on steel.
Thanks! |

A very cool move using the BC pedal combination! The trick is to keep the note on the G# string steady as you move the bar back a fret and press the pedals.
I often practice moves where I try to keep a note steady with a pedal or knee as I move the bar. They get you more in sync with your instrument.

After checking out Ricky's tab, I think he's right. But, I play that part by grabbing strings 5,6,8 with the first pedal on and slide up from frets 11 to 12 to 13, then 2nd string then grab 4,5,6 together, then 1st string, then 3,4,5 and slide up to the 15th fret. It's very similar, but the first chord is more of a passing chord to the G7th position. Hope this makes some sense. Joe |
