Hey, Buddy, I'm still playing my Emmons steel. I wonder which steel you were playing in St. Louis last year. Was it The Blade? I love the steel you play called Black Bart. I still look at the pictures of the Midnite Jamboree on March 9, 2002 when I met you. There's a song on Johnny Bush's cd I've heard before called "When Did You Stop Lovin' Me?" I remember hearing George Strait's version in the early nineties and that's how I recognized the song. I want to play for you. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel

Brett,
The steel I played in St. Louis last year was Black Bart. It has no pickups and sits in a lonely room upstairs. Every once in a while the old man sits down behind it to see if there’s anything left. What little work I do is with Brown Bart which is basically Black Bart with Emmons humbucking pickups and a mahogany finish. The Blade was taken apart and given a complete overhaul by Mike Cass and now sits proudly in the music room downstairs shining from endplate to endplate.
I’m sure we’ll link up again some time and when we do, I’ll be happy to listen to you play. I’ll be at the St. Louis convention on Labor Day weekend so maybe with a little luck we can make it happen there. Until then, all the best to you.

Buddy Emmons, what a first class gentleman. To take time out for anyone on this forum is a tremendous asset and to answer Brett who is a tremendous young man as well. I will see Buddy Emmons at the Texas show. I wish I was rich so I could pay Bretts way down to the Texas show. I want to meet him and watch him play. I would imagine he is improving every day. Paul Franklin also comes on and answers questions and is a first class gentleman as well.
