Ok, somebody please fill me in, who is the steeler on the new Jim Bakker program? That cat knows what he is doing. His playing is impressive, I really enjoyed it.

Man, am I ever behind the times! While fumbling through the satellite channels, I quite accidentally happened upon this program. Yes, the host is Jim Bakker and his sidekick is Rodney Dillard (both of whom are quite different than the way I remember them in the past).

I believe the band is called the Studio City band, all top-notch players. Anyway they cut loose on an instrumental version of the modern hymn "How Majestic is Your Name" and did a very fine job with it. The steeler was playing a Sho-Bud but his tone is more like my LeGrande II with the L-710 pickup. It fit his playing style perfectly. Lots of single note solo stuff and real nice chordal work, and a mix that brought the steel right out front. There was also relatively good camera coverage of the steel player's hands. I actually got to thinking hey, with a fair amount of practice I could play that arrangement myself because this guy's style of playing is similar to my own, etc, etc.

All right, I may not necessarily agree with 100% of the views expressed on the program but by and large I thought the content was pretty good, and I sure did enjoy hearing the steel player. Because of the steeler, I will probably tune in again in the future. Gotta hand it to Mr. Bakker, he finally figured out how to get me to watch his program!

Now, who's the steeler?

Thanks in advance,
Tim Rowley

The steel/lead player is Don Reid. And...it appears that Baker is reformed. I'm certainly not going to judge him. The program content has been ok the times I have seen it. He likes the steel too!

Thank you Reggie. Don Reid, I ought to be able to remember his name because of the Statler Brothers, right? Anyhow, he is indeed a fine player.

John, it's called the TCT network. I believe that it stands for Tri-state Christian Television. It's Channel 49 in Michigan, I don't recall the satellite channel number.

Roy Ayres has posted a link which I will check out. Looks like the program originates out of Branson, MO. Thanks Roy.

And thanks to all for your responses!
