I've seen references to Duke Ching's recordings here, but I haven't been able to find any information on where to buy them. Does anyone know if he has music currently for sale and where I can get it? Thanks! |

You may have to buy directly from Duke himself. That's where I got mines. Check HSGA's e-mail directory for his address.

Scott,
You will enjoy all of Duke's CD's.
He plays a four necked - Fender Stringmaster. On each song he will use at least 3 out of 4 necks. His tunings are Bll, E13, C6, and ?
Duke is the nephew of the great and legendary Hawaiian steel guitarist, Jules Ah See. I'm sure that Duke got a lot of his inspiration from his uncle.
Gerald, I'm sick that I could not make Winchester this year. My first miss in 18 years. I'm sure it was a rip-roaring time.
Aloha,
Don |

Thanks Derrick and Gerald for the email info. I'll follow up on that. Hey Gerald, what a coincidence! I appreciate your mentioning this to Duke. Nothing like having a man there on the scene.
Don, that is so intersting about the family connection with Jules Ah See. I've heard good things about Duke Ching's music. I play a triple neck Stringmaster, and confess that I'm hoping to cop a few of his ideas about switching necks!

Don,
Duke plays a triple necked stringmaster, not a quad.
C13th on the inner neck followed by a E13 and B11.
Here's Duke showing me his stuff on all three necks.

Derrick, thanks for posting that photo. I got to hear duke at last year's Cerritos Uke Fest. By the way, Duke's stringmaster is a triple neck, but all three necks are 6-string necks. |

Hey guys...Duke has played a quad for many years...(I have pics of him doing so). Perhaps he has changed to a triple lately, however my bets are that he still owns a Fender Stringmaster Quad. [This message was edited by George Keoki Lake on 15 July 2005 at 12:25 PM.] |

The steel (short scale) that you see here in the picture was just purchased by Duke. He's been using a triple neck long scale Stringmaster (8 stringer) for quite sometime. Duke said John Tipka did some work on the electronics.
If he does have a quad, he must have stopped using it long ago due to the weight.
Incidentally, Jules used Magnatone, and not Fenders. |

Keoki, you are correct. Duke does have a quad Fender Stringmaster.
Duke has numerous Fender Stringmasters, including the triple-neck which Derrick has posted.
These posts reminded me that Duke said that he stopped carrying the quad to conventions because it was just too heavy to transport. That stopped a few years ago. When? I do not remember.
So on these posts everybody is right.
Aloha,
Don |
