Slick,
The first one in my "Swingin" series collection that I picked up"Swingin Our Way" is dated 1990 Step One Records,so that would be correct.(or real close)Also the Christmas album was even earlier than that, mid 80s I think.

A super series by a group of masters.

This whole series is fantastic! I've always wondered if the market for this kind of release wasn't pretty small- so I guess we should be really grateful to Ray Pennington and Buddy for making these available. Along with Morrell's WTWWS series, there's enough here to keep any swing fan happy for a long time. Some of Buddy's most stellar playing, I think.

I remember a letter writing campaign at the time this was released to get radio air-play for Buddy's "Triple-Play", an instrumental on this tape and it was rejected!......because it was an INSTRUMENTAL!

In 1990 Ray owned at least half (maybe all) of Step One Records. So thanks to him we got a lot (hear we go) of older people recording older songs. I think he has sold it now though.

The Swingin' Series are fairly recent recordings. The first in the series, Swingin' from the 40's thru the 80's, is dated 1984. The last in the series, Goin' Out Swingin', is dated 1998. There's some incredible stuff in them to be sure!
