Well Pete, we all have to get "uncomfortable" once in a while .
You should have thought of that before you spent all those years practicing .
You could have taken a dive anytime you wanted .
Oh and Mike C. He's even fun to "lock horns with".
Our way of doing that "Out West" is to send jobs to each other. We all get paid along the way too . What Larry Behm, another fine player, says about this area is indeed true, (except for possibly his glowing comments about my hack-self).
It's kind of a "little slice of heaven". Regardless of the "general state of music" we tend to basically stick together for helpful purposes where others wouldn't. Sometimes whether we like it or not..
He sure makes me plug in and practice ( as I am today).
Helped too, to remind me (seriously) of the "joyful side" of what we sometimes feel forced to do..
Thanks Pete.
Your friend AND buddy.
Eric West.

Eric,
I stand corrected!
Portland must have a shot at being the new psg mecca, from the brotherhood youve described. I remember when Nashville was like that... long ago.
My best wishes for y'alls continued success & prosperity.
sincerely,

Yeah, "Y'all come" as they say.... One 7 nite club,( temporarily they say) a thousand strip clubs with band lighting, and amp plugin boxes, and 10,000 critter clubs.
Seriously though for the dwindling amount of jobs there are here, there's a real friendlinesss between players that you *won't* see between guitar, bass, ocarina, or *other* players. I can't think of one of them I couldn't call or that couldn't or wouldn't call me for any reason.
In spite of a surprisingly small amount of "grousing", I would bet that a request from any of us to any of us for an amp, bar, or even a steel at any hour would yield a rapid delivery of such to any. Had it happen my durn self.
The ones I can think of, Shorty Rogers, Bill S, Van Coffee, Donny Herron, etc that have "come down your way" have all been the same way to my reccollection. Hopefully it's made "your scene" a little better.
Maybe it's something in the water up here...
Plutonium maybe..?
Glowingly

know what you mean about good intentions. Thats how the fiddlers are here. Alot of fiddlers but not alot of work, however they all split it up for the most part & theyre all working. Not something the steel guitarists here can say. And, you never never hear one fiddler cutting down another.
They keep their egos in check & head to the bank. A professional bunch for sure! |
