Well, I'm told that none of the other local steel pickers want the gig, soooo... 'looks like I am going to do about 50% (give or take) of the performances of a 14 week run of this Patsy Cline show.
It's 2 sets of Patsy Songs (about 12 a set).

Boy, the things we do for Convention and Gear-Acquisition/Restoration funds, eh?

Hey Pete. I had the same offer in Grand Rapids MI but I couldn't take it due to a pending surgery. Let me know how it goes. Sound like fun.

Well Pete, it's just you and me I guess.. thanks partialy to some good local recommendations. I think Ray's driving shedule precluded him. I told them I could do the opening week, and/or ones that didn't fit your schedule. Lot's of other weekend and some midweek stuff most of the weeks til the middle of Jan. I'm really looking forward to it on Sundays, and I'm sure we'll be able to work out the rehearsal thing. Kind of nice when it's paid too..

I just got to brainstorming with Harley today about the Profess. Resto I'm going to do myself. It'll probably end up as much as a DM rebuild, but I kind of like to weld and machine things myself and have some good ideas. Harley's gonna use my spare parts to do his S10 SB Basket.

Hope it went well in Nvl last week. I hope to go for a couple days in Nov.

We'll See.

I think Pete can fill you in. Actually he and John Carter, another fine local guy, are doing it, as I had more dates that conflicted. It opens the first week in Dec at Sylvias in Ptld. Should be a good show.

Sounds like a great show I always loved Patsy's music, even when I wasn't in "country mode".
Congratulations Pete, it's a real nice gig.

While I've done sixteen different productions of 'Always - Patsy Cline' over the last five years, I haven't yet done the 'Closer Walk...' show.

I saw my pal Russ Wever do a very fine job on it in Jacksonville a couple of years back, and I'd love to do it myself - all that 'barber shop' stuff the band has to do for the radio jingles sounds like fun!

Good luck with the run. I just finished two months of 'Always.....' here in Naples, but sadly no steel players came to visit - it sounds like you'll have better luck!

I just love playing that stuff - the most fun you can have with clothes on (apart from my back 'nine' yesterday where I only dropped one shot!)

Great show. I am not much of a steeler -- more of a fiddler -- but I guess I was good enough to fool the director, because I did "A Closer Walk" for 6 weeks in Orlando a year or two ago, had a blast. There's a cool version of "Life's Railway" where it's just solo vocal accompanied only by steel, it's a haunting and beautiful thang. Boy, the beads of sweat popped out for me the first few times I played that one; any screw-up will be TOTALLY audible.

"Always" is a great show as well, slightly funnier, I played that one last year. I guarantee you will have fun, unless the director is a total wanker (which could happen).

btw, if you have never done theatre before, a word to the wise: if you have any homophobia (which I hope you don't), better get rid of it before the gig.

Going through my mountains of steel guitar literature that I occasionally clean out, I found my charts for "Always... Patsy Cline." Does anyone want them? I'll even pay the postage.

What I ask is a $5 contribution to the Forum, on the honor system. Don't let me down on this.
