One of the best things since sliced bread is the huge video screen depicting the hands of each player.
Doug Jernigan

Randy Beavers - becoming quite well known for his extraordinery playing, and a heck of a nice guy.

This year, we had a couple of builders who also played. And with the quality steels they build, they should certainly keep their day jobs.

Jerry Fessenden

Gene Fields

This show was special for me, because I was able to have Gene Fields look at and adjust my Fender PS 210. Gene is the designer of this steel that to this day, in my opinion is still ahead of it's time. There were only 15 of them ever made. I learned a lot about this guitar from Gene. When he first saw it, his whole face lit up. This is his "baby."

Thank you Gene.

Thanks for the nice pictures, Howard. I had one of those Fender PS-210 for a Weekend in Phoenix, AZ, in about 1972. They Were $1500. It is just too bad they didn't keep it in the catalogue. It was almost the same changer I had in my Gibson Electra-Harp. any tuning available, way ahead of its time. Lets bring that changer back! No rods, No bellcranks, . Most of the players today, don't know what a great guitar this was.

I should have bought one, but I could get a new PP Emmons for $1000. and I couldnt' even afford that.....al

The minor details of this guitar were so well thought out. Gene used underwater camera housing lock hinges that attach the pedal board to the legs. The board slips on and you lock it by pressing on a swivel type wing nut.

I paid that amount for it on an ebay auction about 3 years ago. It is in excellent condition...a 9, I would say. The only thing that is inconvenient is the weight. It is heavy.

Anyhow, what a great show.

The other builders present were Fessenden and Lamar. Both had guitars to drool over. We know what a high quality steel the Fessenden is, and we should also take a very close look at Lamar Colvin's steels. This is another well engineered, well built guitar.

Roy, one of the nice things for those of us who prefer a wider spacing, is that the string spacing is 11/32 at both the nut and the bridge.
