Opry is gone??why am I not suprised, last time they wanted to torn down the Ryman and build a nice big parking lot.Wouldn`t that be nice, imagine all those turists from all over the world coming to Nashville and admire the beautiful parking lot... ,God bless Ricky Skaggs,he colected enough signatures to save the poor thing.

Grand Ole Opry Live To Begin Airing On GAC October 4
The Grand Ole Opry has announced that “Grand Ole Opry Live,” cable television’s top-rated weekly music series, will be available each week of the year on the Great American Country (GAC) network.
Beginning Saturday, Oct. 4, the popular show moves to GAC from Country Music Television (CMT). The television broadcast schedule includes 52 weekly telecasts airing on Saturday nights at 8 p.m. EST and repeating three times on weekends and twice on Tuesday evenings – allowing fans six opportunities a week to see “Grand Ole Opry Live.”
The new season of “Grand Ole Opry Live” will be produced by High Five Entertainment, an internationally recognized, Emmy Award-winning production company based in Nashville with more than 600 television productions to its credit. The season will kick off with a Patsy Cline Tribute special on Saturday, Oct. 4, featuring Amy Grant, Michelle Branch, Lorrie Morgan, Lee Ann Womack, and more. The new MCA release, “Remembering Patsy Cline,” hit stores Sept. 9.

I find it interesting that they also have an article about what to do if you don't have the GAC channel..which is....basically call your cable provider and complain ! Now theres an orignal concept about how to build viewership..

Have you watched the new shows that CBS,NBC,ABC and especially "FOX" is showing today?, "Pure Crap". I would like to know who writes this stuff? I forget how long the Opry has been running, but it is the only show today that don't use the "F" word, no violence, just good intertainment. Watch the satelite network and see the free concerts, like Kiss,Meatload, and the world of "Rappers". Pure junk, Hope the GAC stays around for a couple of weeks,to see how long the "Grand Ole' Opry" last. Bye for Now! |

What's GAC like? Is it like CMT with the same 'rotation' of videos, or dare I hope that it has a better overview of country music (with perhaps some older stuff)?

I actually like CMT a bit better than GAC, because they have more specials. It appears as though GAC will be repeating the Saturday shows at 1:00pm Sunday, instead of 11:00am. This week appears to be a repeat from 2001. |

We were able to receive the Opry at the usual time on Canadian Satellite. (Star Choice)It was on the Canadian version of C.M.T. as usual. They were probably hooked into the feed from G.A.C. The production seemed to be a lot better than usual, which is a nice change. (I.M.H.O.) All in all, a watchable and listenable show last night.

Len is right. I'm on cable in the Vancouver area and it is still on CMT here. By the way Len How are you keeping. We should get together sometime, and create a little havoc at one of Wayne Rinke's gigs in Aldergrove
