| Because of the hurricane, I had no electricity for 72 hours which gave me lots of time to practice. One of my friends (a superb guitarist)is letting me borrow his vinyl copies of Buddy's "Minors Aloud", "Steel Guitar", and Hartford's "You and Me at Home" which features Emmons. Wow! Meanwhile, I am still working on some of Green's licks on "Rodeo". I have a riddle for you? What do the fractions 5/10, 4/8, and 3/6 have to do with the steel? |

They are all equivalent to 1/2 or .5, but if you include 1/7 you have the octave strings on the E9 tuning.  |

Hey Don,
The 5/10 is your B strings, the 4/8 is your E strings, and the 3/6 are your G# strings. Glad to have you on the Forum. For all you Forum members, let's welcome Don on here. Don just bought a ShoBud S-10 which is about 30 years old and in mint condition. Don's one of the premier lead guitarists in this area and has a couple of CD's out which are quite good. Don is the Virginia equivilant of Mark Knopfler as he plays guitar with no picks of any kind and you wouldn't believe the speed he has. I'm jealous......Have a good 'un, JH

Jim,you are right, I forgot about the 1/7. Jerry, your answer was quite clear, your compliment quite nice, and thanks for telling me about this site.
Dale, not to beat a dead horse, but thanks to folks like Messina and Stills, I was plucking long before I heard of Mark K.

| I listened to the records shortly before the storm and practiced without amplification. Incidentally, I think I prefer to listen to steel work on songs with vocals. |
