Roger - thanks. After I posted here, I had a flash of inspiration and put the same question on Billy Strange's forum (since he was the producer) and he was fairly sure it was Mr Emmons also.

By the way, I 'stole' that 'Lonesome Me' solo and played it on Telecaster whenever the opportunity arose - maybe I'll have a stab at doing it on steel now you've reminded me of it. I think it's pretty tricky!
