AMG says it was released in Sept. 1963 - don't know how it got by me back then.
It's still the standard by which all other C6/jazz recordings are measured IMHO - and still the best.
Happy 40th! And once again... thanks Buddy! |

I believe the recording session took place in July of 1963. I was transferred to Germany one month earlier, courtesy of Uncle Sam, and spent the next 4 years overseas. No wonder I missed it too.

Thank you, Frank. That album has reared its head on several occasions in the last forty years and finally ended up on the Verve label. I guess that makes me a legitimate jazz player now. |

Buddy...what guitar did you use? Was it the same one you recorded "Singing Strings" (La Golondrina) with? |

Donny
I may be repeating myself,but I did a session
with Charlie Persip,a well known Great Jazz
Drummer, his comment regarding Buddy Emmons was, that Buddy can sure play that darned thing.
I said Charlie,I have the same darned thing
he replied,Oh is that right?,I thought yours
was a cheese slicer. I said that felloe is Buddy Emmons, and how would you compare me to
to Buddy,,he said OK,,but you sound like a kitten by comparison.

It's delight to know you're there, Sensei.
Ever consider doing a Montreal or Chicago Jazz Fest? |
